I totally agree. If you're military, retired military, some DOD civilians and a few others who qualify, WPAFB has a fantastic FamCamp. It's not adjacent to the museum, but it's a very quick trip. Don't forget, if you have a military ID, you can get into the "non public" parts of the museum also. There's some very interesting components not available to the general public.
And, BTW, if you happen upon the AIM26 displayed in the cold war area, my signature is between the two aft launcher hooks. I was part of the research team that did the Cat III testing with Hughes Aircraft at Edwards AFB back in the 70's.
