First Car or Cars with Special Memories

I ran across this website today, it sure brought back memories of cars that have special memories for me. I thought some of you may enjoy looking through some of the brochures that bring back memories of some special times for you .

Oh boy, turn on the time machine. My first new car. 1966 Rambler Rogue. I found this add for it. And they were right .... the Mustangs were no match for it. I may have lost some things in that car ..... but never a race.

Well, I'll have to turn back the time machine a bit ....My first and perhaps the best car I had was a 1956 Chev Bel Aire blue/white hard top. Wish I had that car today ..... mmmm Chuck Berry, Bill Haley and the Comets, Little Richard...78's and root beer at the drive in.

Hank --- my wife's grandmother drove an old Rambler.... very slowly.

First car was 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Town Victoria 4 door hardtop. Current toy is 1962 Ford Galaxie 500/XL Convertible.

She is all shined up for a big show here Sunday.

Love 'em so much I started a web site dedicated solely to 1962 Galaxies.

All these muscle cars and I drove a well used 1966 Datsun pickup truck with a 800cc engine in it..It had a 4 in floor, could have been 3 in the floor..
The I got a 1972-73 2-door hatch back PINTO..
then back to a 1974 Chev pickup truck and I have had trucks ever since.
I have never had a hot rod or muscle type car..unless you count a 7.3PSD..

My first "car" was a '56 Imperial. I got it my senior year in high school and I still have it. My daily driver was a '76 Dodge D-100.

My first car was a 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88. It had the speedometer that changed color from green to yellow and red the faster you drove. Loved that car but the big old boat couldn't swim. I accidentally drove it into a large water hole and submerged it 2/3 the way up the car. Shortened its life it did. My next car was a 1960 Dynamic 88. But it didn't have the fancy speedometer.

Anybody notice a trend here??? Most of these models no longer exist. But then again this observation is coming from someone who learned to drive on a Studebaker Silver Hawk and a Corvair Spider.

My first car was a 1962 Valiant. Looked just like this. Had a slant 6 with automatic push button shift. Got great gas mileage. Wish I would have kept it.

Howdy All;

My first was a 1953 Plymouth Savoy, flathead 6 with a 3 speed on the column.
I could stuff 2 dead deer in the trunk of that sweety.. with hat racks attached.
Had the 'T' handle overdrive under the dash... AM was all the radio played and
used to listen to Cousin Brucie on 77 WABC from New York City.

My '62 Galaxie 500/XL arriving at the Old Wheels 39th annual show in Columbia, Missouri yesterday. It was cold and rainy and the turnout was less than desired but never the less a good show with around 90 cars. As I am one of the Judges, my car is not in the competition, just there for folks to see.

The two most heard statements at car shows:

1. "I used to have one exactly like that except it..............................."

2. "I sure wish I still had it."

The first car my mom got us girls was a Karman Ghia, baby blue, standard shift. It was way cool. Well, my not so dear sister couldn't get the knack of standard shift. One night she got pulled over for "drunk driving" because she was having such a difficult time. My had to trade it in for something "more driveable". Home she came with a brown Vega.

Mine was a copper 1974 Mercury Capri. Loved that little car. It took me to college, skiing, various adventures, and on into married life. Had to sell it, after almost 10 years, when our fourth son was born. It just wasn't big enough. After trading it in on a Chevy van, I feared I would see it being hauled off on a flatbed after a run in with a car compactor I felt like a traitor! Luckily, that never happened.

Since then, I have had "a few" cars. My favorite was a 2003 bright blue Mazda 6. Zoom-zoom
