bumper mod

Hi everyone, I just bought a 12 sprinter 323bhs. Im getting a golf cart and wondered if anyone has put something like this on the rear to carry the golf cart?

http://www.mightyhauler.com/750p.html

I could throw it in the back of the truck but Id rather put the weight on the rear to relieve some of the tongue weight. Besides Id probably have my sons Gator back there.

see those on class a motorhomes, but don't think trailer could handle it.

Add ons to bumper???

Im not going to tell you it cant be done but, I would "bet the farm" that the frame wont handle it. The frames on campers are paper thin and then when you add that much weight that far back, It will buckle the frame I-Beams right behind the rear axle... I learned this the hard way. All i added was aprox 300#'s, which was less than the 500#'s i was told I could. It made it about 3000 miles with out problem, but when the road got bumpy and the trailer bounced it gave way.
Im sure you can re-enforce the frame and make it work, but it wont be easy, quick, or cheap.
I am wanting to do something like that myself but have not worked it all out yet, not sure if I will.

Yeah that seems to be the case....I cant get the idea out of my head though. I now thinkin maybe a 4ft long 6ft wide steel frame with wood or grated steel floor on two swiveling wheels in the back corners attached to the frame or bumper by springed hinges so its easy to detach or hook up. So when its hooked up its one with the trailer. Maybe put the wheels in the middle about 2 feet so there isnt as much "hinge wieght"

Where oh where I saw a 1 wheeled trailer lately with a 4 wheeler on it. basically hinges on the bumper and one high speed wheel in the middle. Seen it on a car but it would work on a trailer. Not sure if it would be concidered a trailer

I agree that the frame isn't designed to carry that type of weight, most can't hardly carry a bike rack with several bikes. Plus I would be very surprised if you could get any type of endorsement for towing another trailer behind a TT. Some states you can get it for a 5er towing another trailer, but I doubt that it would cover a TT.

I believe you can get your cdl with doubles endorsement and that would cover it.

Again, yes the frame of the TT is not strong enough to handle what you
want to place there.

You might want to think about some kind of rack on the truck bed that
would hold two 4 wheelers.

Not much use in New York State. Doubles are only allowed on Interstate highways like I-87 and I-90.

One other issue is tongue weight. You should have at least 12% of the loaded weight of the trailer on the tongue. Plopping a golf car on the rear end would likely remove way too much weight from the tongue in addition to over loading the frame.
