DIY Stabilizers

Needed to relocate the rear stabilizers, after mounting the BAL Hideaspare, for the Honeywagon and Spare Tire. Looked online for placement ideas. Came across these.

Had some 2X6's, and tie down rings, left over from a previous job. Saw where one guy had used hinges, to mount feet or pads, to spread the weight out. Using hinges allows the pads to fold for storage. Most people used Eye bolts though, for the ratchet straps to attach too. In a way, I like the rings better, as they fold flatter for storage. Time will tell.

I put them on the front, rear, and under the steps.

I cut the front and rear boards about 36", the boards for the steps about 24" long. 45 degree angles on both ends.

Did it take out most all of the sway? Yes, yes it did!! This mod made a noticeable improvement.

I'll get around to painting these.

Note - after doing this, it was windy. I walked by the camper, heard a humming noise. The straps where vibrating with the wind, similar to straps on a flat bed trailer going down the highway. Put a couple twists in the strap, this will go away.

stabilizers do great

These handle winds over 60mph broadside so far. Just 2x4x36 eye bolts cap nuts washers & ratchet straps. Cost? $25.
We were lifted & dropped in Wyoming in a campground where wind broke the wind break. It bent 1 stabilizer so we made these

roadglide - Sorry for the delay. I mounted a BAL Hide-a-spare, needed to drop it, to make room for the honeywagon. Used some Aluminum treadplate I had leftover, from a previous job.

I looked for the deeper of the two versions, only places I could find it, wanted $100+ for shipping.

Here's a link for it. https://www.keystoneforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=50711
