Applying new graphics

I changed out the 2 doors on my main cargo bay and now I have too apply new graphics since they came without. Other than spaying water on the surface to float the graphic in place and then using a squeegee to remove the water and adhere the graphic, is there anything I need to do to prep the surface?

Thanks,

1. clean Clean CLEAN !!!!!

2. Do it in the SHADE

3. clean Clean CLEAN !!!!!

4. Use a couple drops of Dawn in the water, spray it on the CLEAN surface, float the decal into place and then squeegee to dry. Don't remove the contact paper until it is partially set as you may need to move it just a "tad" once it starts to dry.

5. clean Clean CLEAN !!!!!

Here's a website that details it pretty well: http://www.stripeman.com/decals.html

A friend runs a graphics shop. He recommends that you wipe the area down with rubbing alcohol before applying the graphic.

FWIW, the newer vinyl graphics may have the adhesive that does not allow air bubbles to occur. Something to check.

The alcohol makes sense.

As far as no air bubbles... GREAT!! but I'm using the spray so I can float the decal in the correct position before it starts sticking. I'm just putting on that part for the cargo doors and I have to match the rest of the graphic that is already there.

Thanks!

I stress do not apply in sun or excessive heat. 60 to 70 F is a good working temp. I learned this the hard way once.

That makes a lot of sense. I'll have to put off applying them until the fall.
