Question Water Tank will not fill up

I have an Avalanche 345 and I cannot get the water tank to fill up all the way. It fills up to 1/3 and then it starts to spill the water out on the tarmack. What am I doing wrong? It seems that it is venting to get 1/3 of the tank full..Thanks
Jeff

Is it setting level? Have you tried turning down the water pressure? Sometimes if the water is wide open it will run back out the filler hose.

I am wondering if your sensors are not working properly. The only way to know for sure is to fill the tank as full as possible, and then measure the volume as you drain it. What the sensor tells you is 1/3 full may actually be a full tank.

Is this a new problem? I had a kink in my vent line when my fiver was new. Had it fixed under warranty.

had a similar problem with my outback. problem was that the vent line dipped down and ended up with basically a "P" trap configuration. So first time the vent line had water in it, it filled the p trap and no longer would vent. so the tank wouldn't fill all the way. If you can easily see the vent line connection to the water tank, it is easy to check.

We were concerned about pressure build up while filling our fresh water tank.
(you can pop the dents out of an aluminum truck fuel tank by filling it with water and applying 3 or 4 lbs of air pressure)
We always use a "fill hose adapter" that allows the air to vent around the fill hose as well as through the vent - got it with my "start up kit" from the dealer.

My tank started burping and refused to fill till full when I first got it as well... Also did not to take water at a reasonable pace - even when empty.

I pulled the interior panels off in the basement to expose the maze of plumbing. It was apparent that the vent hose was in many places lower than the actual fill hose.

I pulled the vent hose snug and zip tied it such that along the entire path, it is in a higher position than the fill hose.

I had a white-water hose that the female threads no longer sealed properly (i prolly ran over it a time or two )... I took the male hose end and cut it such that I have a fill adaptor that's about 18" long.

The combination of these two fixes solved my problem completely.

When I had this problem last year, I bought some of that compressed air in a can and sprayed it into the little screen above the overflow pipe. Fixed the problem instantly.

We have the same problem on our new Alpine 3555RL. When I tried to fill the tank before heading out to a state park with no water except @ their dump station it overflowed after taking just a few gallons, no matter how slow I ran the water. The gauge read 1/3, but the water was up to the top of the fill tube. We were very careful with our water and tested it when we got home - ran out after pumping about a gallon. Tomorrow it goes to the dealer for that and a few other minor things, but overall, we're thrilled with the trailer.

Same thing happened to me

I have a Alpine 3500RE and the same thing is happening to me when I try to fill the fresh water tank. It goes to about 1/3 full and then will not take any more water. I had the dealership check it while it was under warranty and they found the water fill line was not properly supported (acting like a P trap as reported in a previous post). They just added a few quick tie straps and sent me on my way. That worked to fix the issue for the first time I filled the water tank. The problem is still happening and now the unit is out of warranty. I'll have to check the vent line and try the compressed air trick to clear it. I look forward to hearing what Keystone does to fix the problem.

I had the same problem when I got my Alpine in August 2010. Shortly after that, I posted my solution in on the Forum. On mine, the fill line had several feet that were unsupported. As the fill line filled with water, it stretched and sagged, and finally pulled itself shut against a cable tie. I documented it with pictures and contacted Keystone. What I did was to reroute the fill line to eliminate the kinks, and then slipped a 2" PVC pipe around it for support. I supported the PVC pipe at both ends. It just depends on how your fill line is routed.

Water tank will not fill up

I had the identical problem. The vent line may have shifted and is below the fill hose. In the "basement" remove the side panel that allows you to see behind the water tank inlet and where the vent hose attaches next to the water inlet. Use a flashlight to follow the vent hose to the fresh water tank. Remove the hose clamp and lift the vent hose (re-route if necessary) above the water inlet hose. Water will most likely come out of the vent hose and that was your problem. Re-attach the vent hose and fill the tank. Total fix time is less than 15 minutes.

I have the same 345TG model and mine did the same thing...I just took a short piece of hose pipe and blew into the small vent hole to clear water that had gotten in it and it fills up fine now.
