Traded up

Traded the 2500 Megacab for a 2008 Ford F350 DRW 13k GVWR. I should have enough truck now. I just didn't feel like towing 1000lbs over the GVWR. I know a lot of people do, I just didn't like it. and no I will not become a member of the weight police...

Congrats on the new truck! Sorry you will not be joining the "been there, done that, and now I own a real truck" weight police. Let us know your opinion of the towing differences between your old 2500 and your new 350.

Ken, did you get the 6.4L Powerstroke?
Good luck.

Also did you ever scale the truck and camper to find out your true weights?
I did the first time we took out the truck with the trailer and these are my weights.
Front axle 4940, Rear Axle 5160, Trailer axles 8140, Gross combined weight 18,240 LBS.
This combination is a full load of fuel, wife, me and a fully loaded trailer for camping waste tanks empty along with the fresh water tank.

The 6.4 is a decent engine underneath all of the emissions equipment. I'd say the reliability is better than what the 6.7 Cummins has shown so far.

If I was strictly pulling a 5th wheel, I would probably have a DRW truck. But they are not great for daily driving and they handle poorly in the winter time.

Congratulations on the new truck.

Sorry for not getting back to ya'll we are actually camping again... Yes its the 6.4, Nice truck tows great. MPG is not that much different from my Ram. I licked around the idea of a V-10 gasser but I like diesels!! lol

JimW I did drag the rig across the scales. And I was amazed... With just me in the truck and 1/8 of fuel in the tank or so. I was 200 lbs over GVWR. So anything I added to the truck just increased the overage. It's amazing how fast it added up. I figure this truck with 13k GVWR should last a long time!! Knock on wood!

New camper? Not likely unless the DW gets tired of using the campground laundry.. lol which could happen. We are starting to camp more and stay longer since both of our jobs travel!

Oh I have a long bed now. and still have a slider hitch!! Gonna have to fix that issue!! anyway I was hitching up and wasn't able to back under the fiver at a large angle. I used to be able to do that with the short bed Megacab. I almost backed into the fron storage door. I measured the rails correctly. Strange? Anyone else have that issue?

Okay back to the campfire! It's alittle chilly this am! lol
