Control Panel relocate

Hi there,

So, as the new proud owner of a 2012 Bullet 284RLS, my mind has turned to modifying my new RV.

It would seem that this model that I have is a transitional model that doesn't quite fully conform to the description in the brochure for this model year, the most notable difference being the lack of a Monitor Panel.

I was wondering if anyone had undertaken the task of centralizing the tank levels, water heater controls, awning, slide and lights? I'm sure the task involves lots of snaking wire from the location near the bathroom to the back of the trailer. I just don't know how easy a task that would be.

If anyone here has tackled this, I'd love to hear from you. I'd also love to hear if folks here think this is a ridiculous idea.

Thanks.

It would be very labor intensive (time consuming) you would have multiple holes to patch, and lots of wiring to move. I personally would leave it alone as long as everything works.

I liked the idea he had for doing that because I'd wondered the same thing on mine if it could be done so as to get the panel up to face level instead of having to get down on the floor to see it. I also figured it would be a royal PITA to do or have it done. So for now I guess I'll get down on the floor to use it.

What Chuckster said! Until you have looked behind whatever controls you have, you have no idea of the numbers of wires involved and the many colors and lengths you would use. I pulled our main panel for another reason - gasp!!! Then had a heck of a time trying to stow the wires back in that inch or so width

These pictures get posted a bit on the forum, but here's what the wiring looks like before the panel goes on the wall to hide all the spaghetti. It's really not a job for the "faint of heart" to tackle !!!

Makes troubleshooting down the road, that much more difficult too.

Here’s what mine looks like. And I was particularly pleased with the care they took removing a portion of the wall to run the wires up Click image for larger version
