Re: 2016 3500 HD SRW duramax
My issue is SRW vs DRW PIN weight. My 2016 Duramx/Allison can easily pull the weight.

Re: 2016 3500 HD SRW duramax
I don't have a 1 ton yet and I'm considering buying a 5er and I am thoroughly confused. I know DRW will tow better and give you more capacity but when I look at the dry pin weights it seems to push the limits on any 1 ton.

I think the DRW has a higher payload capacity translating into more Pin weight you can accept. My 1 ton SRW payload is 3800 roughly but you new to subtract people/gear/gas/hitch.. so now what left is 3200.

Re: 2016 3500 HD SRW duramax
Go to the scales , SRW limited by drive axle weight . Mine is 7050 because tires are 3525 each. The 342 I pull has a actual loaded pin weight of 3120 .
Rear axle is 6680 hooked up leaving some margin on the axle and within the 3890 max load sticker with two people and stuff.
I think my truck /trailer set up is similar to the OP's question. Just some late night info , not a sermon.

Being so close to capacity does your truck feel stable? Any uncomfortable white knuckle moments due to the truck being right at its max?

Re: 2016 3500 HD SRW duramax
No problems or scary situations to date. I really back it down when the road is wet. All my issues are related to the short bed and the slider hitch. Good call on the long bed for a 5th wheel.

Unfortunately I have a short bed as well... 6.5 ft. I am thinking of getting the Anderson ultimate 2 hitch.

OH......I have no experience with the Anderson Hitch. I read that they are light and strong. Do your research and get a slider hitch if there is any chance of the trailer cap hitting the truck cab.

Re: 2016 3500 HD SRW duramax
So what would it be the perfect truck to pull a FW? It sound to me like I should get a 1 ton DRW diesel with an 8 ft long bed. It is better to be safe than sorry.

From what I am hearing is you can come very close to 90 degrees but ultimately hit. I was told getting close to 90 is fine you don't need to full jackknife, this was from some seasons people. Point I got was for all the traveling they did and needing to be in tight places they did not need full 90. Son not sure.

I'm in the same boat, right now I can get a sweet deal for a SRW 3500 crew cab with a payload of 4k and 17k at the fifth, however, we're looking at the FL and FK Montana floor plans, and I'm thinking of going the 3500 DRW route, but dealers in my area aren't budging on those prices like they are on the SRW. I'd rather be safe then sorry later, so I'm most likely going with a DRW for the stability over the bridges out new england

My Fuzion will and has hit the cab at a lot less than 90 degrees. First time turning around after missing a turn. Another time I straight up forgot to slide it back backing into a site.
Some trailer/truck combos don't need a slider but my old Fuzion does. Next truck will be a 8ft bed.

I have been looking at our dealer and he really wants to unload 3500 DRW door sticker 5600 rw. I said no way because the 17 are out with higher towing and more power. Sart talking 17 model and see what happens. Dealer quoted me 66 K loaded for sweet DRW.

I have come with in inches of hitting and jacking knifing, They claim 88 degrees but I think more. I ordered the curt fiver kit for my chevy frame, it sound like your set up is mounted to far forward. I have seen what your talking about it be the larger toyhauler. I didn't see the old fusion but in 2010 Keystone started making the front sculpt.
