I want to install a Maxx air fan

I would like to install a Maxx air fan in the bedroom vent that is prepped for a 2nd A/C. There are a bunch of wires up there. Can anyone explain what they are? I’m trying to find the 12V power supply. I believe the wire with the connector on it goes to the In-Command control. I’m hoping the black/yellow wires are for 12V.

Leave the Romex and the “outlet” alone, it is 110VAC. I would use a test light or Volt Ohm meter and simply test the other wires. Your looking for 12VDC.

If it's prewired for an AC, I suspect all you're going to have up there are 120V and signal wires, no unswitched DC feeds. If you do happen to find a live 12V wire, I'd worry that it was driven by your HVAC gateway, and putting an inductive load on it would confuse it.

Before I start messing with the wiring I’ll give my service dept a call and verify and find out where I should pull 12V power from.

Thank you all for your input. You probably saved me a big headache and some $$$.

What a treasure! That's going in my Cougar file box.

The bedroom light wiring I was repairing last night was green and white, and I guess all those marks I thought were dashes were actually ones. Though that circuit is switched both at a wall switch and from inCommand.

I see two of those in the photo (can't see the number on the rear one). The interesting thing would be to find out where one is expected to attach those wires when installing an AC; that would tell you if they are always on, or what.

Test light is my most used tool. I have a plug with a long lead attached to the ground prong. Plug it in, attach the test light clip and away you go for any 12V circuit. ALL grounds are connected.

Green - L. Turn
Yellow - R. Turn
Brown - Tail/marker lights.
Red - Brake lights
Black - Ground
Blue - Trailer Brakes from towing vehicle n brake controller.
White - Charging for brake-a-way battery

Before you complain that Keystone's chart is "wrong," you should check what Keystone actually does. Just because it doesn't match the inter-vehicle standard, doesn't mean that it's not what they do anyway.

I recently prepped a commercial horse trailer for sale, and had to debug the wiring to figure out why some of the lights weren't working properly. The trailer side connector was wired closer to Keystone's chart than anything resembling the published standard.

Full disclosure, I have not screwed with the connector on my Keystone trailer (yet).

OK. Gotcha. Lights should work. Just don't rely on trailer side colors when troubleshooting. ��
Was a knee jerk reply from working with DOT wiring on our Utilities trucks and trailers for so many years. ��

When working with the Incomand system, I would be careful using a test light.
