Propane Regulator

Does anyone know what the outlet pressure is on the propane regulator?
My RV is a Cougar XLite 26rls with an auto changeover regulator. Trying to figure out why my quick connect propane fitting won't fire my coleman stove. Works fine plugged in directly into a 20lb. propane tank. If I connect directly to the QC after removing the Coleman regulator (6-15psi @11" water column) it won't fire the burner.

No idea what the Coleman reg is on the stove, but the regulated pressure from the regulator on the rig is 11 inches of water column, (no psi rating), which is the pressure. I can run my Weber directly off of a 30 pound tank. I have not put a tee in the plumbing for a QC to use with my Weber, but if I did, it would have to be on the tank side of the rig's regulator.

The Coleman regulator is 6-15psi. I removed it prior to using the quick connect. The QC is tapped into a tee that is fed from the 1/2" black pipe that's plumbed directly from the regulator. Can't see any psi output marking on the regulator.

Is the lever on the QC hose in the correct position to allow gas flow?

11" of water column is about 0.5 psi. Won't work with a 6 - 15 psi regulator. Either remove the regulator as the OP said or find a grill designed to work with the lower pressure, like the RVQ.

After going to the trouble and expense to buy a nice flex hose that attaches to the the quick connect, I learned that it won't work on either my Coleman stove nor the Weber BBQ. (They'll light just fine, but won't go above a very low setting.). When I checked about it at a propane business I was told that the problem is that there's a regulator at both the RV tank and the appliance. Apparently you can't have both. Grrrrr

I'd be interested if anyone knows differently or a way around it.

You have to remove the regulator on the portable stoves and plumb them direct to the qd hose and it will work great. You are correct you can not regulate the gas twice.

My coleman works fine off my RV low-pressure supply.

You have to remove or bypass the high-pressure regulator on the gas grill in order to use the low-pressure (already regulated) supply. Some of the Coleman grilles have internal/integrated regulators that you can't remove. As a result, you're trying to feed a low-pressure (RV) source into a high-pressure regulator and get no flow.

I used a supply cable from http://propanegear.com to interface my Coleman Roadtrip with my low-pressure RV system.

Could just get one of these fittings, and then you don't have to modify anything, just connect your stove to the unregulated fitting in the middle.

Yes the lever was in the open position.

Stove was not double regulated. I removed the Coleman regulator prior to connecting to the QC.

Just want to know what our trailers regulator output psi is.

The propane regulator is not measured in PSI, but rather in inches of water column (WC). Typically, propane regulators are set to 11" WC (the typical RV propane system) and equals about 1/3 PSI. Yes, less than 1 PSI. 27.7" WC is roughly 1 PSI. All of our RV appliances operate on less than 0.5PSI.

Thank you! I couldn't find the info anywhere on the regulator. Finally solves that mystery. Looks like I'll be bringing a little one pound tank.
