Question about fitting Lippert Solid Steps to my camper
I'm looking to upgrade my steps on my 14 Cougar and I have a measurement issue. Lippert make a 3 step set and a 4 step set and my camper measure right between the two. So which way should I go, longer or shorter?
27"-36" 3 steps
34"-38" 4 steps
My floor height is 35" so I could go with either set.

Take a look at Glow Steps. They have many sets that will fit multiple dimensions. They are also lighter than the metal steps (all aluminum) and adjustable for different landing heights. Not that hard to install either.

Thanks for the help. Looking at the Lippert only because I have a dealer that has about 7 different sets that have been removed (new takeoffs) for wheelchair lifts. He has mostly Lippert but I seen a few with Keystone's logo on them in blue. Would like them but not sure who made them or any other info.

About the only two that I know if are Lippert and Moryde.
I am partial to glow steps, just figured you were only looking at solid steps. I’ve serviced a couple units with the blue Keystone emblem and they seem sturdy.

Keep in mind, you can always add a step at an unlevel campground, but you can't take one out. If you're parked uphill and your steps are too long, it's painful getting into the door. If they're too short, there's always legos and the collapsible stool.

Just for informational and preference....my trailer came with the Solid Steps installed from the factory. I removed them and sold them on Marketplace. I bought and installed a set of the Torklift Glowsteps and I couldn't be happier.

The Son had a travel trailer that came with solid steps, and he found himself in a couple locations that he could not get the door open without digging a hole under the step legs to get them down far enough to allow the door to open. We converted to the Glow Steps a couple years ago and they are an excellent upgrade and have a wide range of adjustment.

2x agree! We have on a few occasions parked on a slope where, when the trailer was level, the steps were too long. Fortunate, the steps fell off the pad and I was able to dig a hole so the steps would lay correctly. Otherwise, the only options would be to keep the steps up and the door shut.
Our Montana has 2 doors. And each door is on opposite sides of the fifth wheel. So we have doors on both street side and curb side, or both left and right, or both driver's side and passenger side, however one want's to describe it. And at 41 feet long, even a slight hill can make a huge variance between the front and the back of the Montana. So when parking, I always have to consider the height of both front and back end to make sure the steps will lay down all the way. If not, I have to make sure one side is over far enough I can dig a hole. Like I said, this has happened to us only a couple times in 3 years, but when it does, it sure makes you glad you carry a camping collapsible shovel with you!
On the other end, sometimes the steps are just not long enough. So I carry lots of lumber, because we camp in some pretty unlevel spots sometimes, and I'm prepared for anything. But the first time I ran into the situation where I didn't have enough to block up the step to support it, I had no choice but to leave it just dangling in air, and we absolutely did not use that door.
Thus, I ended up purchasing the longer leg extensions, and came up with some creative ways to make the extensions reach the ground, so at least, the steps would never "dangle" in the air again. To high to actually use, but sometimes campsites are so unlevel and campers are designed in such a way that any kind of step is just going to be too high.
To give you a perspective of how challenging this specific camp site was for us, that step ladder is a 4 foot high step ladder.
At this same campsite, I had had to dig down in the dirt for the front door on the passenger side:
Anyway, in spite of this seemingly scary report, I still very much like the Moryde steps. They are extremely stable and strong. Unlike my last 3 travel trailers that had the folding steps, and the last trailer steps actually broke where they were welded to the frame (not bolted.... welded).

I ended up buying a 4 step set for $250 as new take-offs. Came with everything but the screws and owners manual. Getting ready to install them now. Last year my cousins wife took a nasty fall when she stepped out on the folding steps and a rivet broke. This has got me looking and then I found these.

We took the three steps off and put on 4 steps. More comfortable with lower bottom step.
Size? Lippert has good sizing instructions and charts. They also have a phone tech you can speak to.

Moryde makes a removable version now…good if you can’t close your door because of a deck or concrete pad is preventing the steps from hinging down all the way..I had that problem before and had to remove the leg extensions just to use the door.

We switched out the triple fold out steps with the MorRyde steps. They have removable hinge pins so the steps have much more flexibility of use in tight spaces. When I removed the old steps, I installed the storage box in the space and love the new set-up

Those of us with Avalanche, Alpine and Montana's are probably wishing they'd make a 5 step... With my Avalanche, which I believe is a little closer to the ground than the Alpine and Montana I find that on level ground I have the step legs on the 9th or 10th hole which is a good bit more than 1/2 the travel of the legs.. But many of the sites we use are unlevel enough that I have to extend the legs past the pre-drilled holes and put blocks under the feet to hold the stairs up..
We carry a 6" high step and nearly always have to use it in addition to the stairs...
The Solid Steps came on the Avalanche and I've added the power assist and the hand rail.... just wish it had 5 steps...

I installed the lippert steps on a previous trailer and I liked them, but had the common issues including that they are heavy to fold up and block the door. Also fitting issues and gettingthem to lock in when folded, and installing can be a pain dependingon your threshold. On my current unit, the pull out steps were a real problem due to the steepness and height. I found that they now make a detachable version. I love these. You only have to install 2 short brackets. The steps attach and detach from the brackets. They are light enough that I can handle them by myself. I can still use my original fold out steps when necessary. I can lay the steps inside the door on the floor when traveling or put them in the basement. They are the same solid steps with adjustable feet, so for me, all the good and none of the bad.
You do need to check that you have something solid for the brackets to attach to behind the skirting under the door.
