Ripped awning off trailer��

Just venting. I know all of will be fine in the end. Brand new 27sab travel trailer. Camped once. Getting ready for our first big trip in 3 weeks. Pulled it to show in-laws. Was parking along road and didn’t calculate the size or strength of a high hedge on side of road. Heavy limbs caught the edge of my awning and before I knew it...it pulled my awning off the side of my rig. Pulled screws out. Knocked out one speaker. Awning was on ground. Unscrewed what I could and limped to RV dealer/service. Doesn’t appear to be any structural damage. But replacing with upgraded awning. $$$$$$. Plus no trailer for 2 weeks.
I have felt dumb. Stupid. But no one was hurt. Trailer will be whole again.
Just thought I’d vent.

Well - There are two classifications of campers - those that HAVE damaged their RV and those that WILL. There are two sub-groups in the first classification - those who keep it a secret and those who admit it.
Thanks for sharing - hopefully someone else might learn from you having shared your "oops moment".

Thanks Jerry. Hopefully this will be the last BIG Oops! Glad I got it out of the way early and close to the repair shop and not out on the road.

Ain`t the first time it has happen and want be the last. It Is hard to be on defense all the time you are towing.

Don't forget, that's why you have insurance on your trailer. If you haven't, be sure to contact your insurance agent. Get them involved.

I will never forget the first time I had to get into a tight gas station lane and when pulling out after fueling my gas hog found out why the station puts those big cement barricades in front and to the rear of the pumps. Didn't swing wind enough and ended up crunching the corner of my RV. I fixed it myself and you could hardly notice the repair once 6 months went by hehe.

I had the awning out to let it dry and drove out of my barn. Lucky it only pulled the front mount from the wall and ripped the material where it attached to the wall. I was able to have the material repaired by a sail shop and re-mounted the awning myself. Total bill $75.00. I was lucky.

Sorry it happened to you but it does happen, I think few want to talk about it. Around here the wind while gone picks up and they left them out, that takes a toll on them as hitting stuff while turning.
