Sad State of Affairs
Good Morning and, in recognition of Veterans' Day, thanks to all those having served.
This morning, as the sun was rising over the Sierra Nevada, I was outside placing our Nation's flag. I do this for every national holiday and I always do so just a little more reverently on Veterans Day. It is just the way I think.
However, at least where I live, I seem to be in the minority. I live on a rural road about 6 or 7 miles from town. There are about a dozen homes scattered along a two mile stretch of county road (the lots here vary from a minimum 2 1/2 acres to 10 acres. Ours is the ONLY home along this stretch of road to EVER display the Nation's flag. Oh, there are flags displayed proudly and prominently. Let's see - there is one for the San Francisco Giants - there is another for Oakland Raiders (Raider Nation) - there is even one that has the Toyota logo in vivid red and silver. But, no Stars and Stripes - not ever.
Sad.

When our son joined the USAF 21 years ago, retired this April, we've flown the stars & stripes everyday since. On our homes is was lighted & flew 24/7. 10 years full-time I built a PVC pipe with a solar light that flew everywhere/everyday we were parked. Now back in a S&B it's again lighted & flies every single day.
God bless all our vets, active duty & the families of those that gave all for us to be able to fly it proudly & freely.
Thank you for your service!!!!

We bought a "cabin in the woods" about 20 years ago. The first thing I did was install a flag pole on the deck. The people around here could tell if we were at the cabin by whether the flag was displayed "on the deck".
When we tore down the cabin and built our home, the first thing I did after we moved in was to "plant a 20' flagpole" in the center, front of the house. It's lighted and Old Glory flies proudly 24/7.
From our first home to this one, there's always been a flag pole and a flag to celebrate our nation and those who serve. Even in Turkey, where Americans are restricted from flying the US flag, we had a small one (6x10") proudly displayed over the front door.

God bless those that have served are serving and will serve!
My best friend gave me a telescoping flag pole and a mount that is designed to go under a vehicle tire... I put it under the tongue jack where ever we camp.

In my neck of the woods, Toronto, we have very few residential Canadian flags flying. You see them mostly on cars when a Canadian team is playing in a tournament. Mostly Toronto Maple leaf flags (disgusting ) A long time sports celebrity/ coach was fired today/ yesterday over remarks made about new comers to this country not wearing poppies. Why would they? All they remember is their homeland being stolen from them and looking for refuge/ help. It takes a few generations to assimilate to western culture.
I think there are so many more choices of opinion out there that the old guard is starting to fade. To some that's good, others bad.
Last time I checked "pride" was one of the seven deadly sins. People respond better to being treated with respect than yelled at or forced to withstand idiotic political agenda. In both our countries. JM2CW

It is hard to sort through the remarks of Don Cherry and pick out what is acceptable, honorable, or just plain foolish. He certainly is a character, but like it or not we are living in a time when people are certainly nor free to state their true feelings. (Kind of like right this very minute )

For the Biblical scholars out there... PRIDE is one of the seven deadly sins but pride in what? Self pride I think and not pride in God, country or our families. I think we must be proud to be Americans and especially proud of those who have served and fought and died so we can espouse whatever opinion we like.
I am proud of my father who flew the Burma Hump in a B17, George L. Lesho Sr. as a member of the Army Air Corp, my grandfather, Paul Lesho who served in the US Navy in WW I and all the others who came before me and served the greatest country in history. God bless America!

Amen Brother... I am proud to be an American by choice, there is no other country I would fight and die for.
