peterbilt tow rig

Not mine but I think it would make an exellent tow rig for someone thats pulling some wieght..

Ant that the truth!!! A truck with this many miles on it would likely be high on the maintenance end. Yes, this truck could easily run for 250k more miles, but at what cost.

There are reasons you don't find this type truck with low miles....the original owner buys them and gets their utilization out of them and then recoups what they can. Same here with the rodeo guys.

Nothing a simple in-frame can't remedy for another 750,000 miles. I have a '84 Kenworth W-900 with a 855 Cummins. The truck has over 2,000,000 miles on it. It has been in-framed twice. I spend a bit of money on it but it is in a money making situation, and it now only runs local. The good thing about a Paccar product is that the cab, hood and doors will last a lifetime, if not longer.

This is what my eariler comment was about, at 27 years old yours should be paid for (if you are org. owner), and it probably costs almost as much in tune-ups (including supplies), adjustments, tires, break liners etc. to run each year. Operating costs generally increase with the age of the beast... Although, there are some exceptions that prove the rule.

I agree 100%. As I stated, my truck is still making money. You weigh up the variables a little bit differently than when buying one for recreation. That truck has long since been paid for and I could have most likely bought another truck for what I have spent in it over the years. Then again, I would have spent money in the replacement truck as well. It just totally depends on what you want vs. what you need. Hard to beat a Paccar product!

I own a couple of medium duty trucks. I can honestly say that I would not make money if I did not make the repairs and perform the maintenance myself. Trucks are without a doubt expensive to operate. I am very close with a veteran mechanic and he once said people don't sell trucks that they are making money with. After I purchase my trucks, I typically spend the next year updating everything to avoid a costly breakdown. Within a month of purchasing a truck, you will know why it is being sold. I suppose I could by a more expensive truck, but hind sight is 20/20!

When I posted this I was really thinking this as a recreational vehical. As with any vehicle there is upkeep that needs to be done and the owner should take that into consideration when purchasing anything and see how it will fit into there situation. I think this would be ideal for someone doing alot of mountain travel or just traveling the country. Quite honestly, Im such a redneck if I had the oppertunity to purchase this Id have it as my daily driver! Kids would love it! lol
