Solar awning

Just got this in my email:

https://www.gearpatrol.com/cars/a380...ping-trailers/

A bit pricey but some people just have to have the latest.

It is pricey, but is interesting.

Awnings... the most delicate, problematic and prone to failure item. Hey... lets make one for $10,000

I'd love to see the first insurance claim for "wind replacement" on one of those bad boys.

I'd like to see a test where they roll it in and out two times every 3 days for about 20 times to simulate the weekend warrior. Then there will be the guy that leaves it out to charge the battery while they aren't there and a T'storm comes along and takes it away. Wonder how that conversation with the insurance company would go.

Like so much of the solar & wind energy great concepts are just that, concepts. I'll wait for the "working model" after it's been proven.

For me, it sounds like the Elio Motors venture...

Send us $100 before October 30 and when they're available, we'll ship one to you for $7,500. If you don't get us the "startup money" before the cutoff, pricing will be $10,000.

The first Elio "deposits" were taken in 2008 and those people still haven't seen production vehicles on the streets (or in their garage)... We looked into it in 2015, decided not to make a commitment to buy one. As far as I know, they still haven't produced the first "retail model".....

This looks like a great idea..... to make some quick cash and RUN.
These guys have never camped out west (you know, the place where we have a "name for wind and rain and fire") Mariah would make quick work of this less than well thought out idea in less time than it takes to sing the chorus
