There is no hope for the future.

I fully support any referendum cali might dream up to leave the union...
They will get it figured out, right after they solve who uses which restroom....thing.

BTW, I was a plumbing contractor for many years in California before I "woke".
The Building Code in the state requires certain condition be met, by gender....which means their very own requirement is in conflict with their gender neutral one...hahah.

These folks don't think, they try and feel what's fair, and thus make that what is right...

Recall the luxury tax?

That would make things fair, right?

No, it put those selling, making, repairing, etc, those luxury things, the workers, the blue collars....out of work.

Their part seems to be to have a wet dream fantasy, set a deadline, and impose a penalty; then say, "We did our part, now you do everything else."
Then when the pig fails to sing and life becomes that much worse for everybody... well, it's not their fault.
Speaking of pigs singing, if you live in California, better stock up on bacon and sausage now, because that deadline is January 1.

Love that song….now I’m going to have to look it up when I get home…what about “Mendocino”, remember that one?

When I worked in the restaurant industry I remember when the real-estate guy's would want to make a deal on a closed restaurant space. The real-estate VP would always say "What makes you think we'll be successful in a space where someone else failed?" That made me think about being husband number 3, 4, or whatever. Thank God I got a great wife the first time out! Married for 42 years next March, together for 46.

We're on year 52 now, going on 53. Trust me when I say that at this age, being retrained to meet another wife's expectations and learn how to do it "her way" just simply "AIN'T IN THE CARDS" !!!!!

For me, it was painful enough the first time and I consider it a "one and done" lifetime event !!!!!

It's funny this topic, and your post, came up. DW and I were JUST discussing the same thing about us as we were talking about some happenings in another marriage.

We think the same as you. Been married going on 55 years and it is the greatest single thing that has ever happened to me. BUT there were those early years..... I thought I was doing the "training" and things were going to be "my way". I had no idea how that worked.....and it's so discreet you don't even have any idea what's going on and then one day the words "yes dear" pop out of your mouth. Then "you're right"!! Before you know it you take orders like a soldier and you're fine with it. How did my plan get upended so easily??

All joking aside I believe once you reach a certain age (as we were discussing about the other marriage) married or not you become a creature of habit enforced by many decades. That won't be broken easily or without a lot of turmoil. Nah, I'm not about to be retrained - barely potty trained but good enough for me.

31 years for me and my DW

Both of us our 1st marriage…my wife is a saint…god knows I shouldn’t be celebrating 31 years…I definitely married a keeper and consider myself a millionaire many times over with the family I was blessed with. She is always there for me or our (grown) kids no matter what adventures we dream up..time to paint the boat? “sure! be right there”….want to drive 200 miles and look at an old tractor? “Sure! Count me in”
How bout let’s buy a fifth wheel?… “yup! Sounds good! …oh and I need a new truck to go along with it… “ well if you need it ..you need it hon”

I should just spend the rest of my life doing whatever she wants to do…she deserves it

Now this is a PERFECT example of just how "sneaky" an excellent wife can be... To listen to this report, it sounds so very much like painting a boat, looking at an old tractor, buying a fifth wheel and a new truck were his idea... Uh huh, sure Brian, see how well a wife can train us without us even realizing it's already happened before we know it !!!!!

Do you remember the old toy "See and Say"? It had a large wheel on it that you would turn and point it to a picture of a letter, or an animal on the housing. Then you would pull a string and the toy would either say the letter or you would hear the sound that animal makes.

I have one of those strings coming out of the back of my neck. Every time you pull it I repeat "My Fault, My Fault"

DW and I have been together over 39 years, married for 37 in February. Best thing that ever happened to me.

That's how my second, current and final wife is. Everything nice that I own is because of her. 13 years married this year and still going strong. I don't think we'll make it to 50 since we got married in our 40's, but you never know.

The poet Waylon once sang, "women been my trouble since I found out they weren't men; in spite of that I took a wife now and then."

I don’t know what that means to boondocking ..maybe they will consider a factory installed fifth wheel generator exempt

Won’t be feasible to cut a large yard anymore unless you buy a $20000 compact tractor or a $10000 battery operated Tesla push lawn mower lol.
Guess they are hoping to get rid of the pesky people with large yards in the suburbs and hope they move back to the failing cities

We are seeing what is the more likely scenario- People moving out of CA.

Wish they'd ALL go north to Oregon & Wash. in order to keep them concentrated in only a couple areas rather than trying to ruin ALL the other 45 states.

Then we could make a separate socialist country they can be happy in!

nuff political BS for now. Camping is much more fun and being out in the colors this Fall has been amazing! I am retired but took an afternoon off (see how many get that one!) to go to Look Rock (on Foothills Parkway in TN south of Knoxville). I was having a great day but seeing the colors made it even better!
Y'All enjoy Fall.
