Keystone HyperDeck

I wanted to ask those that have a newer Keystone such as Bullet, Passport, Premier, Outback, Cougar Half-Ton and Laredo Super Lite, if they like the new Hyperdeck floors in your RV's.

Now that you have used it, would you prefer it, or the older traditional wood based flooring?

Better than the previous Luan laminated floor for sure. Still not as good as solid plywood floor, but much lighter

Also had the floor replacement done. It is flexible so it does bend a bit. Not a rigid as solid plywood. But in general I am glad I have it. Nothing to rot!

Came factory on my 2021 Premier. Not quite as solid as plywood but the fact that it won’t rot is worth it.

They lift everything off the floor including interior and exterior walls, replace floor and set it all back down. Not an easy repair.

We have the Hyperdeck on our 21 Passport 229RK .
Its hard to tell the difference honestly .........perhaps it might give off a slightly "hollow" sound when the dog is jumping around, or we are stepping heavily around in the camper . It is very rigid , maybe more so then plywood . Has a nice stiff feel to it when walking on it . No give or sag like some wood floors may have . I like the fact that it is lighter , wont rot , and wont be damaged if we have a water leak or a spill .
Two thumbs up , so far .

All of the information I could find on our 2021 Cougar SRX353 said it was to be hyperdeck, but from what I have it did not.

I don't believe you'll find a "sandwich flooring system" in any toyhauler. It simply won't stand up to the abuse to the garage floor. Typically, the hyperdeck replaces the luan top/bottom sheets in the styrofoam floor.

Your trailer, all "full size Cougar models" made in 2021, were built with "Dyna-span seamless floor decking" which is a solid core floor, not a sandwich floor.

You can find the information in the 2021 Cougar Eastern brochure, page 8.

And on page 8 in the Cougar Western brochure as well: https://keystone-rv-dealer-app.cdn.p...Dec20f_WEB.pdf

Essentially, the hyperdeck system is only used in ultra-lite and X-lite trailers, not in the "full size lines"...

I guess I must have stopped on page 3 in the Cougar Western brochure! Thanks for the information John, you are correct.

Considering we had a major kitchen sink drain failure at the wall and floor junction when the camper was brand new (first shakedown trip exposed the poorly, if at all, glued ABS joint). I had no worries about the floor because the hyper deck is more water resistant, I love it. 2020 Passport.

Also it is quieter than the OSB floor in the Jayco we had (which was touted to have plywood floors, but did not because I could see the OSB under the bathtub and kitchen sink).

Good evening, what is the approximate cost of a repair, changing the entire floor of a 2015 passport

I am pretty sure you will find that this floor issue was handled by the Keystone factory so how much it costs may not be easy to find.

IIRC Keyston built a dedicated facility to handle the warranty claims from the deck issues. It's not a simple procedure. In order to remove the structure from the floor all the 12vdc and 120 vac wiring must be disconnected. All the plumbing supply, drain, and vents must be disconnected. The gas appliances must have the gas lines removed back to the last connection before they penitrate the the floor. All the cabinetry, moulings, built ins such as beds, entertainment centers, booths, etc. must be removed. And this is just the beginning of the list.

Any facility doing this work must also have sufficient floor space to hold all that "stuff", plus the shell of the camper, and have room enough to work on the frame/flooring. That type of space allocation costs money and the number of labor hours would come at a significant cost that you would never recoup from a 7 year old camper IMO.
