It's been 2 years since we were in Michigan. We stayed a week at Baraga State Park for a week. Made it out to Copper Harbor and Fort Wilkins State Park. Toured all over the peninsula and the Marquette area.
Then came on around the lower side and stayed a week at Wilderness State Park for a week and toured all around the Mackinaw City area.
From there, we followed Highway 31 back to Indiana and over to Elkhart, and then on South to home.
What a fantastic time we had!
Last year we spent a considerable amount of time in North Carolina. This year, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
It wonderful when you retire and you can take much longer and more extended trips, go at a slower pace, and spend more time at each location to really absorb the local culture.
Enjoy your travel. Michigan has a LOT to offer by way of camping and water craft activities. I have a good friend (female), who solo kayaks. She has a T@B (teardrop) travel trailer and 2 kayaks on the roof of her car. She does a LOT of kayaking in Michigan ... All over! (yes, she's a bit younger than me, but a good friend from when we were worked together on different projects.) She loves Michigan too.
