Last Trip for 2023 - We Ate Well

We picked up our first Camper, a 2018 Bullet 272BHS in August. Snuck in a couple of late season weekends, got familiar with everything, did a few minor upgrades and fixes.

Just back from our last trip for the year. Travelled with my brother and sister in law, their camper in in the background.

Dusted off my Dutch Oven that I have had since my scouting days, many years ago.

Put a Porketta in the oven, got a charcoal fire going, pushed the coals aside, put the oven in, and put some coals on top.

Later on, my wife put together an apple crisp, we got the fire going again, and enjoyed a really good dessert.

Now its time to clean up and winterize, and get ready for 2024.

It does indeed look really good...I don't see any camping potatoes or a veggie mind you It's so true though, we all eat real good while camping...some of the best meals and cooking methods are at the campground kitchen and the picnic table

Potatoes and veggies were done separately. We do them in the Dutch oven sometimes, but weren't sure there would be room, so we made mashed potatoes in the camper, and just microwaved the veggies.

Well, up to a point, but about a pound of baby carrots in with this would have set it off!

If you are able to park your camper at home, then why not use it over the winter. You don't need water, you have that in the house. Just run the furnace, throw in a space heater, or use the electric fireplace (if it has one), and sleep in it, hang out in it, watch TV in it. Enjoy it year round that way.

If winterized, pick up a port-a-potty from Wall Mart. Use it in the night instead of the toilet and dump it down the toilet in your house in the morning. Nothing says you can't enjoy your camper, even in the winter!

And, why not plan a winter camper. Depending on where you live, state parks are open all year round. You can camp there (but maybe not with water at the park, if they turn it off), but bring your own, use pit toilets and have a great experience.

Or, head South for a week trip and get out of the freeze zone states.

Just, have fun all year round. Nothing says you can't do that!

This looks DELICIOUS! We camp with 3 retired couples, and one of the gals brings her traeger smoker and Blackstone griddle, and one of the other couples makes desserts in their Dutch oven, and my wife and I make homemade ice cream. I just got a bighorn pellet portable pizza oven for my birthday, so now we’ll add pizza to our camping fare.
