Upgraded!!!

It’s official…..

We traded in the ole reliable 2014 Passport 28BH for a 2023 Passport 3401QD.
That 28BH was the first unit we purchased together. Now the kids and us had outgrown it.

Started looking at the QD back in 2020. Couldn’t find any since covid shut the world down. Finally we were able to find an actual model to lay eyes on last week. All the internet research was made complete by a 30 min session with the new trailer.

Spent the last few days getting all the stuff loaded and ready to roll.
First big trip is back up to Fun Valley this summer. Planning a few roll out trips before.

Looks like a great floorplan for a family. Noted that the camper is about 10K lbs gross weight and has LRD tires. What brand are they? I would consider LRE tires for a little added safety. That is a fairly heave camper. Good luck.

Congratulations!
My 1st stop would be a tire shop to get rid of those well known China Bombs. Read up on that brand, there are several tales of the spare popping on the rack never having been on the ground.
Also hope your Sierra is at least a 2500? That rv is 39'+ @ nearly 10k lbs = a tongue weight of 1300+lbs, too much for a 1/2 ton full of people & their stuff.

The truck is a 2500
Went with a unit that is big enough for the family….but also keeps me well under all weight limits.

Thanks for the heads up on the tires!!

Regarding tires...

The last response got me searching for the thread below:

https://www.keystoneforums.com/forum...ighlight=tires

I had a similar upgrade from a Bullet 273 to a Bullet 330BHS. Having lived through a "china tire problem". I don't wish that experience on anyone. We just returned from a 5500 mile trip and the new tires still look new. I upgraded the tires to match the rims and now have 2 spared (undercarriage BAL spare tire too).

Most folks with campers with 15" rims use Carlisle Radial HD Trail (I am on about fourth set) and some use Goodyear Endurance. Those would be the most popular 15" tires. The Carlisle are every bit as good but a lot less expensive. They are made in the Far East but the plant is under close US supervision. Trailer Kings are perhaps the most notorious (not in a good way) tires being mounted on campers....

. I have the same size tires on our unit as the OP. Oem tires were D rating and were about to max capacity when fully loaded. Replaced OEM tires with E rated Carlisle and was very satisfied. I replaced them last spring (at year 6 of service) with the same tires. When they removed the old tires I looked inside with a bright light inspecting for blisters or evidence of belt shifting, etc. The old tires looked new inside and the tech said I was wasting money replacing them. I told him for the cost it was worth it for the peace of mind.

I ordered my Carslise tires from Amazon (both sets) and got them in about 3 days. The manufacturers date was less that six weeks old for each tire. I had them mounted at an independent RV repair shop, not a dealer, when I had them do a bearing repack/ brake inspection last spring. That reduced the labor a bit as they had to take the tire&rim off of the unit and put it back on anyway.
