12v Branch Circuit Wire

Does anyone know where to buy the 12v wire that is used for the branch circuits? Or, any ideas what other wire is acceptable to use? It will be for a 15 amp circuit.

Lowes has bulk wire if that is what you are looking for.

Any decent quality automotive grade wire is fine. 14 gauge should be plenty for a 15 amp circuit. (Consider 12 gauge if you are installing something at the far end of a longer trailer.) NAPA stores carry a good selection of wire, crimp-on connectors, fuse blocks, and fuses. I like the inline ATC fuse holders.

For 12vdc, use stranded wire, not solid conductor.

Remember that white is ground and black is +12vdc in our Keystones, at least for the Keystone part of the wiring.

If you have a battery switch, I suggest you connect downstream from the switch so that whatever you are adding gets turned on and off with the rest of the trailer.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about using 14 gauge extension cord wire from Lowes.

Extension cord is not good for RV and automotive wiring. The insulation is not designed to be installed in walls and floors. Not really a good thing to do at all.

My advice remains to get a couple of rolls of #14 automotive grade wire.

It is the right stuff for what you want to do.
