Refrigerator outside vent covered up

Hi All,

2015 Keystone Laredo 322rl Have owned this one since new in 2015. Was cleaning it up getting ready for first trip this year. I took the covers off of the outside vents for the refrigerator. Bottom one was fine. When I took off the cover on the upper one I found a piece of wood had been placed in front of the unit. Not just placed there but actually framed in place. I am attaching 3 pictures. One shows the location of both vents. The other two show the board I was referencing above. The board covers about 75% of the area starting on the bottom with only a little bit showing on the top. Has anybody ever seen anything like this and why would it be put there. Thank you for your help.

Alan

That’s normal. The heat needs to pass over the fins with very little gap.

Yep... as crude as it is, that's what the factory does.. it's supposed to be there.
Many have removed it to their chagrin.

Our last camper had that and yes, as hacked as it looks it is supposed to be that way.

Thank you all. Silly way of doing things, but I will leave it in place.

Different brands use different materials, I’ve seen J wrap bent to touch the fins.

As long as your fridge is operating properly, no need to do anything, I added a fan at the bottom, blowing up to help move more air and it helps the fridge stay cooler.

When you add the fan where does it get power. Does it run continuously?

Mine is wired to the 12V supply and only runs when the thermistor mounted on the lower tank senses heat.
