So they call this a bed....
Less than two months in the unit and there is a 3" divot where my butt goes. I didn't even know this thing was 3" thick, its so hard. We got a memory foam topper before we ever even slept on it. It is that hard.
How it can be hard as a rock and still compress so quickly, I don't even know. But they sure put a nice label on it, as if they were proud of that level of achievement, or something! LOL Rant over.
Any of these "short queens" ya'll are happy with? I can have one shipped ahead to our next stop.

I've never seen or been on an OEM RV mattress that was worth anything. This one came with an upgraded "residential" mattress that actually looked like one you would buy for a house....nope. Still pulled it out after the first trip.
When we were younger it didn't make any difference....it was so much better than rocks. Now, we don't even let an OEM mattress leave the RV lot.

Due to DW's joint issues, we bit the bullet and went with a custom Tochta. You just send them the dimensions you need and the thickness you want, they make the entire thing custom, and ship it to you. You have a 90 day approval with a full refund, but you have to pay shipment back. We are extremely happy with ours.
Then, of course, you can go through the ritual of having to beef up your gas struts to keep the hatch open, etc.

I picked up a regular queen mattress at wallymart. One of those ones that puff up after you unstrap it. I really like it.

I knew the mattress would be bad when I bought ours but didn’t realize how bad. Sleeping in the ground when we tent camped was kore comfortable.
Luckily there is a custom mattress maker literally 500 ft from our business. He can build me anything I want. We talked last week and we plan on going with a innerspring/latex combo with a bamboo covering. It’ll be about $400. Going to wait closer till spring though. No sense in spending that right now for something I won’t use for another 3-4 months.

Picked up a "real queen" mattress from Ikea years ago. Could not be more pleased.

A mattress is the first "upgrade" any new owner should make followed by a "real" water and waste hoses.

Okay, I'm about to expose my redneck side so here goes nuthin'. Years ago the DW saved the foam from six couch cushions (we're talkin' about the serious 6-inch thick variety) and then she created a canvas wrap for each set of three. We called them our "foam burritos" and used them for tent camping. They fit just right in the trailer lying side by side under two flannel sleeping bags zipped together. Wonderfully comfortable. Not for everyone but it's worked out great for us these many years!

If you have a 3" crater you need to look under the mattress. Many time the OSB has a unsupported seam across that area. The osb won't support body weight much lass adult activity.

Typically an RV mattress is very low quality POS that will give up the ghost very quickly. That is one of the reasons I won't buy an RV with an RV sized mattress, king or queen and insist on a REAL queen. I can go to any mattress store or Sams for a replacement and do. I can go to any bedding store for linens and don't have to buy special sizing at RV stores. YMMV.

It's solid plywood and in fine shape.
We got a Zinus 8". It had good reviews on Amazon. Slept on it last night. Both liked it and slept well. Ahhhhhhh...... :-)

We bought an 8” memory foam mattress from overstock dot com.
I disassembled the stock mattress to make it small enough for the garbage man to pick up. It was, literally, springs and 2 1” thick sheets of batting.

Hey Twisties, do a few quick measurements to see if a regular queen will fit. Ours hangs off the plywood base only a couple inches on the foot end. If so you can get any mattress you prefer. We went with a Nectar mattress since we sleep one Every night at home. Good luck and happy camping.

We have the same problem with our new Raptor
I actually wrote a letter to Keystone about how disappointed I was in the mattress. We slept on it a total of twelve nights and there are two divots in it where we lay. It’s like sleeping on plywood now. We have a trip planned in one week so we took the mattress out of our old Wolfpack to use this trip. That has been a great mattress, it was the one that came with the rv new in 07. If it wasn’t just a little small I would just make it a permanent swap

Short Queen Matress Choice
Here's what I ordered off of Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's a "Spring Dreams 9" Two-Sided Pocket Coil Mattress, Made in The USA, Short Queen"
Purchased back in May of 2019 for $230 and it's only gone up $5. (Free Shipping)
It sleeps better than my WinkBed at home.

Guess we must be weird; our 2018 Raptor 353TS came with a king mattress but was laying on something more like a queen base - about 6" of unsupported overhang on sides and end. I extended out the base to support the king and it has been very comfortable for us.

Any problems with the struts on the under bed storage holding the access panel open with this mattress?
