Summer cooling question

We have a 2015 Alpine 3600. There are two long vents in the stairs leading to the upper bed room. Can these vents be blocked off to keep hot air from coming in from the lower basement? We live full time lake Havasu, Arizona
Thanks for any info
Mike

Welcome to the forum!!

Odds are they are either basement ventilation or furnace returns, and I don’t see an issue closing them off in the summertime. Just make sure if they are furnace returns that you unblock them in the fall.

Thats exactly what we did a couple of years ago. My wife cute a couple pieces of black thin carpet and attatched them with velcro command strips. It helps quite a bit because so much hot air would get sucked in from there before. Obviously we take them down in cold weather.

Yes... we have been covering the two return vents for a few years now without problems. No sense filling up the "basement" with cold air. Don't forget to cover all your floor vents as well, keep the cold air from filling up the floor "ducting."
