Viewing Digitial Files via USB port (Movies)

Has anyone successfully been able to view digital movie files from a USB device thru the Jensen radio? We recently purchased a 2013 Passport 2910BH, and during our shakedown attempted this with incomplete results.

I inserted a 64GB Flash Drive that I have loaded with movies in .avi format. This setup works in my TV, allowing the kids to watch movies on long trips. I was able to view the files on the television screen, but got a format issue when I attempted to play.

I was thinking that if I were to convert the .avi to .mpg format they may be viewable. Anyone make this work?

.avi is a pretty old format and generally very windows-centric. Converting them to H264 mpg's would probably be better as that has become the de facto standard. Good luck.

Not sure exactly what radio model you have.. I have the Estone 8500 P.O.S - limited documentation edition:

Some observations:
Max size USB thumb drive is 4GB...
Any size larger will not work...
It appears to play divx encoded AVI files on my USB thumb drive...
Don't expect HD or perfect playback... It will occasionally get fuzzy or pixelated...
I use DVDFAB to rip my original dvds to files or disposable dvd copies. DVDFAB.com
There is a "digiport" on the front - have not been able to find out more or order cable for this...

Good luck. If anyone knows anything else please contribute to this thread...

My 2910BH has the Jensen AWM965. According to the manual if can be used to playback "compatible files". It doesn't state what a compatible file is, but it does note that MP4 streaming video format is not supported. We are heading this weekend, and I will try some various formats to see what might work.
