Trailer plug wiring

So my trailer plug was kinda falling apart and I want to replace it.

I've found a couple diagrams online, but they seem to conflict as to which wire goes where. One show a purple for backup, but I don't have a purple wire.

So, is the following correct?

2010 Cougar if it matters.

BU (Center)
GD (Ground)
LT (left turn)
TM (tail & running)
AX (12v power)
RT (right)
GB (brake)

I was wrong on a couple of the colours, so I removed them.

I went into my old plug and tested them all out, went by that and got it right. But now I don't know where I put the piece of paper, so I can't post the ones I found.

The attached diagram which was previously posted by another member seems a better match to your colors?

Nope. That is very different from my wiring. I don't have an orange, and a couple of the others are in different places.

The center does look like what I ended up with.

I guess the way I did it (test out the old connector) is going to be the safest.

There are different wiring configs depending on the type of vehicle and the manufacturer. It's not as standardized as we would hope. Most wiring diagrams will show the "standard" wiring colors for the TV and they are often quite consistant. The trailer's wiring colors can be very different. The last plug I replaced on a 5er had the original molded plug. I cut the cable about 1/2" from the plug and used a multimeter to verify which color went to which terminal on the old plug. No issues with the new plug

I cut my wires a bit shorter than I would have if I knew I needed to test them. But I got it done in the end.

I found the piece of paper I wrote it all down on and it agrees to the center ones that trucker Lou posted.
