Coroplast fastener “nails”

I read through some of the older post on keystones use of fastener “nails”. I’m swapping out several of the nail type fasteners as I prep for installation of electric waste valves. Just wanted to share what self tapping screw fits perfectly. A #8 x 3/4” fits like a gem. Showing photo. And don’t worry. After determining correct size I ordered a box of 75 with hex head bolts so I don’t strip the Philips head. Just thought Id share. Click image for larger version

LivermoreRaptor, How did you get the nails out of the hole? What is the best way to get them out, without damage? Thanks

I pulled my underbelly off and cleaned up everything underneath. My coroplast was attached about 50/50 with screws and nails. When I put it back up I used all screws.

These are what I used.Click image for larger version

The nail on the right is one I pulled out. The screw on the left is what I used to replace all the nails I pulled out. I used Tek screws from Home Depot.

I used a catspaw, pry bar, hammer, vice grips, grinder combo. Some will pop right out but some you have to grind the head off.

Surprisingly, I already had an impact gun in my hand. I used a 1/4 hex bit and the nail would back off about 1/4’ and I’d gently pry with a small crow bar. They came out very easily. If you try putting them back in they really don’t want to stay in. The self tapping screws are so much better for future maintenance. No gorilla tape required.

I've used those Tek self drilling/self tapping screws for years. I keep some of various sizes at the house for those times when you decide to do a project and all you are missing is some way to attach something. And here is a little experience tip....If you are attaching something to a piece of metal that is kind of thick....3/16 to maybe 1/4" thick, I will drill a pilot hole into it first with a regular drill bit that is smaller than what the Tek screw will drill. I've found that even though the Tek screws have a drill bit head on them, they will sometimes give it up before you are finished drilling the piece.

Fastenal stores carry them as well. I also used light gauge angle, with holes and slots, from side to side to give the chloroplast more support.
