Traveling to Traverse City area - question about route

Hello,

We'll be traveling up to Traverse City area in a couple weeks. Will be stopping in Terra Haute overnight before completing the trip. The Google map ap is showing two different routes; one primarily on US31 and the other is primarily I69. Which route would be better ? We have a 44' toy hauler.

I'm thinking US31 would be more scenic but would have us going through a lot of towns with stop lights.

Thanks
Doug

Wilkod, Howdy;

Have you used the Google Earth itself to "view" the road itself?
US-31 is mostly a 4 lane divided highway. When it encounters any
kind of major village or town it has a by-pass, so not so much stop
an go. Indiana's back country is beautiful this time of year, I used
to run all over Indiana collecting damaged transformers from the
various electric co-ops. Used to call it Going Hoosering. That was
with a Peterbuilt and a 48' flat bed/covered wagon.
Don't forget, those farmers move some massive equipment along those
2 lane roads and they'll hop onto the 4 lanes when they can or have to.
Stay alert, and you'll do fine.

You will go through a lot of towns on US 31. There's not much that's a limited access freeway on that road. I grew up in a town along the lakeshore so am familiar with it. It's gorgeous though, and the towns are very neat.

You might be better served, timewise, to take 69 to 94 to 131. Most of 131 is limited access freeway and overall will save you tons of time.

31 is a beautiful route, no doubt. Once you hit 10 E of Luddington, it's a 2 lane road all the way to TC. You'll pass through a few little towns with some slow downs, but the benefits of the views are worth it.

The bottom line is just whatever you want. Us127 is fine, take m72. Us131 is fine too...visit Cadillac.

Just get a map and do it.

If you go up US 31 try the Cherry Hut in Beulah.
