Camping alone...
We have a 3 night weekend planned starting today, with a 3 hour drive to get there. Last night my wife came home to tell me she had to work this weekend. She asked if we could get our money back. I answered that I am still planning to go. I do not think she liked that answer but, why not, why sit around home when she is working. I will hit the road this afternoon at some point. Have only towed alone when bring the trailer to the dealer and never for 3 hours. Also have never setup alone before but will most likely do as little as I can get away with. Might take a little longer to get in the site and get level but everything should be good. Going to a campground that we have never been to before.

Campers are friendly folks, just ask a neighbor to help you back in and get level. The rest is a one person job. Have a great weekend.

Have fun and enjoy the time. You'll have to be a little more careful if it's a back-in site, but it's doable. My wife knows that I like to take a few trips every season by myself. We both enjoy occasional alone time, and me taking the camper is the perfect opportunity.

I have done it and have enjoyed the experience.
When using the services of another helpful camper to get into the site, be sure to go over your plan in terms of positioning and communication / signals. It is amazing how much our DWs know about what we are thinking. The helpful camper will not have that advantage.

All these have been great and proper advice. If you need help backing etc. ask for it. Better than coming home with a smashed up trailer because you backed it into a tree. I took my truck camper and boat several times by myself really not a big deal. A couple days away from the DW is OK. Enjoy the trip.

Free at last!!!
I remember the day that "SINGLE MALES" were not welcome at "Wholesome" FAMILY CAMPGROUNDS!
We used to lie a lot going cross country, even if it meant paying the upgrade for two.

I've been many, many places and pulled many miles by myself. I traveled for work. Not nearly as fun as with DW but fun none the less. Parking won't be much of an issue. As was stated, ask for help if you need it. If there is none get out as many times as you need to make sure you don't make contact with "something".

I tow and camp alone most of the time. I'm retired and the wife still works. I'm more mindful of my surroundings and drive no more than 350 miles a day. That way I can unhook the fiver to eat and get diesel. I'm currently I'm Florida for a month busting the grand daughters. I find it am adventure and relaxing. Go for it.

Trip went well and was lucky enough to be up the Maine Turnpike before someone flipped their trailer today about 4:00, must have been just behind me. Backing in was easy and I took my time setting up. Took a break halfway thru and got a pizza at the campground snack shack, not too bad. My son called to say he was on his way since he heard I was alone so he got here a little after 8.
The wife seems good, looks like she is putting in about 32 hours after putting in her normal 50 hours. Anyway, happy camping to all those out there.

I go at times myself. I am a sales rep and sometimes I take the camper for stays instead of staying in a hotel room. Nothing like being in your own bed.

I don't see the problem either, things in life change and you have to go with the way it works out. I know my wifey would be sad if it changed and she couldn't go but she knows me. In the end its always trust. I bet that she knows you will make it up to her on the next trip plus you got to spend quality time with your son.

Had a good time with my son and the wife is counting the minutes until I am home. All is good.

Cool .
I've never camped alone but I am sure I would enjoy it. The closest is when I took my kids (13 and 10 at the time) camping, and my wife came up the next night. All it did was add a couple more in and out's of the truck while backing in, but it was no trouble at all. Oh and a couple of monsters there and back, in case I need some extra boost.
Edit: Now that I think about it, the photo in my sig is from that exact trip. And it too was about 3 hours away, maybe a little more.

Yep, I am with you. Dear Bride still working, perhaps the most understanding woman I have ever met and excepts my vagabond spirit and wanderlust ways.
Have done thousands of miles alone.
I have had her fly in to meet me on the road for a short stay when she can get away from work. I drove to Great Falls to pick her up a couple of days ago and she will fly back out in a couple of weeks. She loves the scenery of travel, but most enjoys the relaxation of being in camp and doing day trips from our campsites.
An added benefit to her is all the tasking of travel, set up of camp and hassles of the road are avoided. Win/Win
