Digital thermostat
The thermostat in my Avalanche is very touchy. Either freeze your _ _ _ off or sweat your _ _ _ _ _ off. You add you own nouns. Would a digital thermostat help this problem?
Thanks and happy trails.

It helped mine. The swing in analog thermostats are bad! Lol Digital ones keep it around 1-2 degree swing instead of the 6-8 of old style.

installed a $30 programmable digital thermostat from Lowes and couldn't be happier. I have it set so that Temps are consistent every day and night for sleeping. The only downside is that I don't have low AC fan option with this tstat unless I install a separate toggle switch. No biggie because it I don't use low fan anyway. Temp swing is one degree which makes AC/furnace cycle more but temp remains consistent.

I did the same... ^^
Got a $19 one from Lowes... Pics around here somewhere.
Tip - when removing old thermostat, take pics of the wiring before removing any of the wires. Nice to have something to fall back on

Here is the most popular thermostat conversion that I have seen: http://www.modmyrv.com/2008/07/14/rv-digital-thermostat
I don't understand why the RV industry continues to put the cheap, crappy thermostats in their units other than to save a few dollars.

Here is the one I bought at Home Depot. But I only paid 19.99 for mine at the time. Might have been on sale.

Our new Bullet came with a crappy digital t-stat. It doesn't read room temp, just setpoint. I guess I can live with it.

I'm going to change ours out also. I'll probably just go with the Coleman Digital thermostat I've seen on eBay. I might be wrong but I think I read somewhere that the wire colors match, but I may have dreamt that.

Another digital that has been used with success is the Hunter -available at Wal Mart I believe for around $20.

This is a real easy mod and well worth while. Best instructions I found was here,
http://www.klenger.net/RVing/HVAC_Hu...tat/index.html
gives you various wiring schemes and colors based on OE t-stat.
I bought the Hunter at Wally world, twice. I thought I was smarter than the instructions and smoked the first one........

Hey, Scot. Good to see you around. No problems with the new unit while we were at the beach

I installed the exact same one. Works flawlessly. I have the times/temps set same as the home programmable. I need consistency when sleeping,
