Passport 2910BH on order

Hi all,

I have a 2013 Passport 2910BH on order. Wanted to check with other passport owners on if there are any known issues I should look for during the inspection at the dealer? Thanks for your help!

We have a 2012 passport 3180re. The one thing we really had a problem with was the shower not being sealed. There would be water running on the floor everytime we used it. The dealer siliconed all the joints and checked the drain and all is well. We also had a water leak coming in from behind the refrigerator and where the cables went through for the slides in the rubber seals. Now everything is dry. Good luck and enjoy.

We love our 2910. The only problem we had was delamination of the counter top in the bathroom and they replaced it under warante.It's a great camper. You will love it.Congratulations.

Thanks everyone. I picked my 2910BH up today. I bought an equal-i-zer hitch from adventurerv.net and the dealer installed it for $35. We are going to take it out camping next weekend!

I love our 2011 2910bh and with 4 kids its great. One thing to check is the outside black tank flush. I used mine twice and both times it flooded my bathroom floor. Sounds like it would be a great tool to have but I haven't used it or had it fixed yet.

Thanks I'll watch for that. How is that supposed to work anyway? Wouldn't it accomplish the same thing as flushing grey water after the black water when dumping? or does it clean a different part of the lines?

It is actually a water hookup beside the city water connection and you hook a hose there. After emptying black tank and while valve is open, turn on water and there is a spray jet inside the black tank that cleans the inside of the tank. I will close my valve for a few seconds and let a little water build up in there. Continue till tank is "clean".

Use the pressure regulator for the black water input when cleaning eh? Never would have thought of that - good reminder! I did get a regulator for the regular city water connection. I will be sure to use this when cleaning the black tank. Taking my maiden voyage this weekend to figure out how everything works

OK now comes a very "delicate" part.... There is a caution in the instructions regarding black tank cleaning that warns not to use the "fresh water hose" to connect to the black tank cleaning system. The reason not to connect with the "clean hose" is because if there is any backflow from the system, you can contaminate your fresh water hose with bad things from the black tank. That then, would potentially contaminate your fresh water system and could cause illness for those using the fresh water.

So, if one should not use the "fresh water hose" because it may be contaminated, then it stands to reason that one should also not use the regulator that is regularly used on that system as well. Contamination, whether it's on the hose or on the regulator, if it puts "bad stuff" in the fresh water system, you're subjecting the occupants to disease.

I'd think that if you're going to use a regulator in the black tank cleaning, get a separate regulator, mark it for that use and don't confuse the two.

OR.... I wouldn't do this, but some may argue it's "OK", always connect the "fresh water regulator" to the campground faucet, that way any backflow would have to go through the entire hose before it contaminated the regulator. My reason for not doing that is simply when I store my "black tank flush hose" I screw the two ends together to prevent leakage in storage. That puts anything from one end of the hose on the other end "every time"

I wonder if not using a pressure regulator (I do use a different hose) on the black tank flush is why I get water in the trailer. Maybe it’s too much pressure

You can use an inline backflow valve. They should have them at your local campworld. Screw onto your hose before you connect to the black tank flush then screw off to reconnect to the city water hookup.

To my knowledge, all of the "commercial" black tank flush adapters have a back flow valve. The issue, as many have already found out, is: How do you tell if the back flow valve is working properly?

IF (that's a big word) it is working properly, you "most likely" won't have any contamination of your hose and/or regulator. How do you make sure "IF" isn't a factor???? I've not yet figured that out. For me, the smell test at the connector nor the wipe with a clean finger and taste test are just not an acceptable answer for whether the back flow valve is working. Should you do a search for black tank flush adapters on here, you'll find a number of people who have had bad "back flow valves" or who have had "anti flush systems" fail in the walls of their RV. Many of them didn't know they had a failure until they saw wet floors or damp walls, sometimes months after the failure. How many of them could have (or would have) contaminated their fresh water supply had they been using a common hose for fresh water and sewer cleanup?

I've been RVing for 40+ years and I'm not secure enough to put my trust in a piece of plastic with a ball in it to work properly all the time. My grandchildren, my wife and even my own "lower GI tract" just are too uncomfortable when they don't work properly. I'd rather be sure I dont put e Coli in my fresh water system. You won't find me "trusting" a back flow valve to protect me from the stuff that's in my black tank

We have the 2013 2910 BH that we purchased in September. Only been out on 1 trip before we winterized it, but love it. Good luck with it, and have fun.
