Keystone Height Specification

I think I know the answer to this but wanted to confirm. Does Keystones Height specificunitation include the A/C unit? I would think it does but again just wanted to confirm

Thanks,

Hmmmmm...the Keystone website lists the 250RS as 10'11". Mine measures 11'3"to the top of the AC. Don't want no "low-bridge surprises".

You need to make sure you have the camper level?

With Keystone marking black tank/gray tank issues, tongue weight's off by upwards of 500 lbs on some RV's, the problems some have had with screws that completely missed the roof trusses or sidewall studs, do we really want to trust that every RV rolling off the assembly line is really the same height as the brochure ???? Oh yes, the brochure clearly states (in very very small print): "Product information is accurate at time of printing. Features, floorplans and specifications are subject to change without notice"

It's just "too easy" to put a 2x4 on top of the air conditioner, hang it off the side of the RV, use a level to make sure it's horizontal to the ground and measure from the bottom of the 2x4 to the ground. Doing that assures you of not falling prey to the 11'8" website we all read about on here a couple weeks ago.

Thats about how i did mine only I used just a 6 foot level from the AC to the outside. then measured to the ground. Mine was 2 inches higher than the factory stated.

When we were considering building our pole barn this summer I was concerned that the trailer wouldn't fit in a 12' door with the slight angle of the drive. I tried to back my 11'4" tall (according to Keystone) into my neighbor's pole barn door that measures 12'. As we backed it in, it kept "growing and growing" until we were just at the back of the A/C and we stopped. I climbed on a ladder next to the RV and measured the distance to the top of the building opening. There was only 3" clearance and it looked way too close for comfort. I stayed on the ladder watching and he backed it into his building. It was definitely a tight fit.

According to Keystone, I should have had 8" clearance in that opening. With only 3" it's pretty obvious to me that Keystone missed the mark on my trailer. By actual measurement it is 11'9" to the top of the A/C.

I am definitely glad I didn't decide to build the building with 12' walls with the standard 11'10" door opening.

As it turned out, we postponed the building for one more year and stored the RV in a closed warehouse again this year. Next year, when we build, I'm now thinking 13' doors would be a wise investment.

JRTJH's solution is good but too complicated. Just find a bridge a few inches taller than Keystone's spec and drive under it. If you still have an air conditioner you will have your answer.

I would make sure I was hooked up to my tow vehicle and on level ground to get a measurement. My fifth wheel does not set level when hooked up, I have my hitch set as low as it will go and a two inch lift on the trailer and I am still a little nose high.

Can you make any adjustments to your pin box so that you can lower the nose of 5th wheel? If you have any holes in the box and can line them up properly, you might be able to get the 5er to sit level?

Festus,
I have a Sidewinder and it is up as far as it will go without cutting some metal off of the pin box. It does not sit bad now and when I get it loaded up I think it will settle down a little more on my truck.
