New Keystone owners

Hello all, my wife and I have been camping and upgrading for around 20years or so now. We started tent, then an old pop up, next an older 1978 travel trailer(but it had a bathroom) then an 02 27’ TT, and now finally a brand new 2021 Springdale 31’ with the bunkhouse. It required a new to us truck, a 2013 Chevy 2500 with 6.0 gas (this girl loves and I mean loves GAS)! Since July we have been able to use it for 5 local trips towards the beaches here and hopefully going to take our 1st mountain trip within the next month! We travel with our 2 daughters, 1 12 and 1 17years old as well as 3 dogs! So far the camper has been great, but you can really tell they build them fast and as cheap as possible! We hope to use this investment often as we are beginning to tour colleges for our oldest next year and just take these small weekend trips to get away for a quick recharge!!

Howdy from the Texas Hill Country. Had to look up Cerro Gordo; sure doesn't sound like a place in the Carolinas! Funny how everyone brags on their pooches traveling with them. We have eight dogs and ALWAYS travel with one or two. When you look at used camper ads most of them say NO PETS AND NO SMOKING. What a joke. Go to any campground and I think Rvers like to have their critters with them more than most. I saw your profile pic you had a little fenced area for the pups. Most of the campgrounds we go to don't allow those fenced enclosures nor tying a dog up on a lead attached to a trailer but do require dogs be on a leash while in the park except once in awhile there will be a fenced in dog run. Anyway, welcome and enjoy your new camper.

We have taken our 3 house dogs(2 little and 1 105lbs) ever trioso far with the new camper. The fence just happened 2 trips ago but it has been great. We can leave the door open or open and just let them out without them trying to knock us out the door first! Haven’t had any where yet we couldn’t use it around here. Taking them is much cheaper than paying to kennel them!!

We hire a gal to sit the dogs we can't take. She is pretty reasonable and we trust her to keep an eye on things. As our dogs age, my wife has decided to not keep adopting strays and such. We generally take any dogs that need more attention. Last trip we took Billy Bob as he is on a strict diet enforced by the vet (he is a porker Chihuahua). We generally only take smaller dogs; have 3 large dogs now. Charley; he is a runner (choc lab mix), Lucy (old heinz dog who sleeps all day) and Presley who is a St. Bernard/ Great Pyrannes mix. He is a bit larger than 105 lbs and not sure I could sleep on our queen bed if he went.

The 105 lab is my oldest daughters so she sleeps with her. The chihuahua and Chawinnie sleeps with my wife and I. The cat stays home and looks after the house while we’re gone and we have a neighbor that feeds our 2 outside dogs and chickens!!! No way we could take everybody and if they wanted to they could just leave me home! I don’t really mind taking the dogs but they do add a little aggravation to our get aways. The best thing we have done, besides the fence, is teaching them to travel in the trailer. I know it may not be the safest thing out there but it’s much better than having 3 dogs in the truck with us. They either lay on the couch or the bed or look out the window but seem to enjoy it!

Welcome and congrats on your new purchase. Hope you have many great and memorable trips. Gotta really love our furry friends. We've had 3 sets of dogs over the last 20 (plus) years, and all 6 dogs have been absolute great traveling companions and absolutely loved camping. I wish our adult kids were still as excided as our furry kids are? But, that's life. The 4 previous dogs all lived a robust and full life. We miss them so much, even with our new current little guys.

Meet Cherry and Oreo. And oh, that hairy thing .... that's my wife!

My wife can open the door and tell them we are going camping and they will run to the TT waiting to get in! When we come home from our last trip, our Chawinnie got out of the camper, ran around the yard and went back in the camper and just stood at the door waiting on us to come on and leave again! I think they enjoy it almost as much as we do sometimes!
