Furnace Vent Re-Install

Hello All

Had to de-install my furnace vent cap to get rid of a mud dauber nest. Now, time to reinstall it. However, not 100% sure what to apply to the inside of the furnace cap. Looks like some sort of gasket material and butyl tape which you can see still on the side of my camper in one of the attached pictures. I would like to clean that off and re-apply before i install the furnace vent cap.

does anyone sell pre-cut gasket material for this application? Or, do i just buy the material and custom cut?

Any other thought/recommendations on re-installing the cap?

The white pad looks like it could be an insulator of some kind. I would see if your dealer can get a new one or call Suburban direct.

Yes the white pad is a heat shield. You should be able to get a new one at most any RV parts department.
When your done, be sure to run a bead of seal and across the top, we use clear silicone because it’s handy and cheap.

thank you. And the black "putty" type material. Assuming that is butyl tape?
