Solera Canopy

Can you extend the electric canopy only 2 or 3 feet and be OK. I would like to leave it out a few feet in case it rains to keep the steps and stuff next to my RV dry-ish. When all the way out it can get bouncy if the wind picks up. I figured out only a few feet would diminish this tendency.

Yes you can extend it a couple of feet to use it as a rain block for the door. We do it quite frequently (we have a Dometic awning). The only consideration I'd caution you about is that the awning, in a partially deployed position, may be higher than the sidewall awning rail, so rain may flow "TO" rather than "AWAY" from the trailer. That's something you'll have to determine based on how far you deploy the awning and how yours is mounted to the trailer sidewall.

Even with a partial deployment, I wouldn't leave the trailer and go any distance without retracting the awning. Wind, thunderstorms and damage can occur with little or no advance warning, so being prepared is always a "good thing".....
