Question Air bag assist for toyhauler

Has anyone ever added air bag assist to the leaf spring toyhaulers. Have looked on line but have found nothing other than for the tow vehicle. I have put them on my 2014 Ram 2500 and it sure seems to smooth out the bumps and rough roads but the ride in the RV seems could be a little dampened? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I am a little confused on "the ride in the RV seems could be a little dampened"..is someone riding in it? Pretty confident you cannot really do much in the way of air for that suspension. You could use air ride technology either in your hitch or your pin box which would soften any transitional type stuff.

Years ago, some guys were adding shock absorbers to TT's. IIRC there were (and may still be) kits available for this. Since it's possible to substitute air shocks for regular shocks, that suggests that it may well be possible to add air shocks, too.

Some of this may depend on the type of axles you have in the toy hauler. If they're the traditional leaf springs and shackles, those are better suited to the addition of shocks.

Drawing on old memories here, but I think that Monroe shocks had the TT conversion kits available. Maybe that would be a good place to start looking.

FWIW, shocks alone may be enough for your needs.

I noticed that they have Timbrens for trailers, too. http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Susp.../TTRA1032.html

My Jayco had shocks. I can't say it made the trailer ride any better in the 13+ yrs I had it.

It would be nice to be able to lift an axle when backing in to keep from scrubbing the tires.
