Ordered a new Ford

Accidently stopped at the dealer and ordered a new F-350 on the way home the other day. Giving me a good trade in amount for my F-150. They said 6-8 weeks is normal, 4-5 weeks is common for them, and the last one they ordered showed up in 2 weeks.

Now I just need a bigger camper... right now just pulling a 2014 Hideout 210LHS.

Link to my build if anyone cares to check it out.http://bp3.ford.com/2015-Ford-SuperD...cookiezip=true

Half the reason for a Ford is my family discount. Believe me, if I could have a Cummins in my Ford, I'd be a pretty happy guy.

I've been looking at getting a new F350. Been on the fence wether to go with a 15 or wait for the new design on the 16. My 2011 F250 only has 62k miles on it but my new fiver weighs 12.6k dry. A bit overloaded on the F250.

A lot of rumors I've seen indicated that the 16 was going to be the same, and that the 17 was likely to be a redesign with a lot of aluminum. I went with the 15 because of the trade value on my 150, and I prefer a design that has been around long enough to work most of the bugs out.

Yeah I've never been fond of buying a new design. But it has worked out on the 11 model with the 6.7 diesel.

Same info I'm hearing and reading. The "new Ford SuperDuty" will be introduced mid 2016 as a 2017 model. So it looks like the 2016 model will be a continuing refinement of the current model series. Ford usually runs their series for 5 to 6 years depending on the competition's introductions.

I agree completely, I wish Ford would STOP trying too build there own diesel and outsource it too Cummin's. I mean look at Dodge, Toyota and even Nissan are letting Cummins figure out how too build and engine for them. Ford's just too stubborn too admit they don't know how too design an engine. I love the body design but too many horror stories about the 6.7L

How do you "Accidently" stop at a dealer? I'll need to tell my wife that one next time.

I'm not so sure that's an accurate statement. With 5 model years of history, early model trucks with well over 200K miles and still running strong, an increase in HP/torque from 390/735 to the current 440/860, a 12/15% increase in performance without affecting reliability. All the indicators are that the engine is a "winner" and it seems to be competing pretty well with Cummins. Owners of the "Ford produced engine" are, for the most part, very satisfied with their choice and reliability has proven to be "up to standard" with the competition. There are 6.7L commercial applications in the F450/550 truck line with well over 500,000 miles and still going strong. The last I checked, every RAM dealer has diesel mechanics on staff just like Ford and Chevy/GM.

Cummins, while very good, isn't the only game in town. Thank goodness there's a choice in trucks as well as ice cream. Some just don't like chocolate, or vanilla and prefer strawberry.

Well I hope your right, but I've had many people say too me that they have or know people with the diesel's and they are in shop more than on the road. Maybe all I'm seeing is the bad, but I truly hope Ford get's all the bugs worked out before I need a replacement truck or I will have too go with a GMC at this point in time. I'm a Ford man since the early 90's and I have a 7.3L powerstroke with over 232K with very little down time other than normal wear piece's. I also understand that every truck line has issue's but lately Ford's have been the big topic competing with Dodge over who has the most towing and horse power and torque.

I know three people with 6.7's, and I respect their opinions. One has a 2011 with zero problems, one has a 2012 with zero problems, and I don't know the year of the third one, but it is a 450, and it has gone through 4 turbos in 109,000 miles. He says the turbo is different on the 450 or 550, and he doesn't here of nearly as many problems on the 250 or 350. He did recommend I get my own code scanner and keep a spare EGT sensor on hand. Says its like having a spare tire.

I leave my code scanner in the truck, particularly for when I'm away from home. Of course, my Cummins is relatively easy to work on. I had a peek at a new PS F350 a friend purchased. It did not look like an engine in the traditional sense of the word. Dependence in many ways is inevitable, but I will continue to resist as long as possible in the realm of vehicle wrench twisting. The Cummins ISB helps me do that.

Either way, I have very little intention of working on it myself. I worked on my own stuff when I was younger and couldn't afford a mechanic. I spent many hours in my teens sitting on a ford 6.9 with an international harvester book and a meter trying to get glow plugs to work, and I just don't want to anymore. I also broke a lot of things because I was too hard on vehicles. I have learned and just don't want to mess with it. I might change my own oil, but I doubt it. Having it done is expensive, but having dealer service records is valuable on something like this.

Hansel and I are both members of a Ford truck forum and we have seen the "growing pains" of the 6.7

Turbo and valve issues in the Cab/Chassis model, and it seems the high pressure fuel pump.

Failure threads have steadily dropped off and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new F350 CC,LB, DRW if it wasn't for the fact that the payments would be larger than my mortgage.

OP: enjoy and drive the poop out of it!!

Looks like you sourced a damn fine truck. So far I well pleased with my 2015 F350 CCLB 4x2 DRW. I like the 120v AC plugs in the truck. Change the cell charger to AC charger instead of the 12v one. Nice to charge the laptop while driving also.

I see you didn't order the Ford all weather floor mats and that is good. I would suggest the Husky floor liners over the WeatherTech's. Stant makes a locking fuel cap 10510D about $12-15 on eBay. No one is making a DEF locking cap yet, but a couple are indicating they are to release one soon.

I would suggest checking into the extended warranty (ESP) also. Some say not worth it but many say it is. Price shop the ESP. I was able to get mine for around $2000 for 7 year plan.

You will have plenty room to put in a full size side to side tool box and still put a 3500/4000w generator between tool box and the 5'r hitch.

I have the Titan 65gal fuel tank. Sure is nice to go 500-600 miles (even if my bladder can't, lol) to find fuel at a reasonable price when towing the 5'r. Tank is a nice addition even though it is cost about 1400.

Make sure the dealer fills the fuel tank and DEF tank. Ford is charging you approx $150 fuel fee. Enjoy it!!

My 2011 F250 that I just traded had 72,000 miles and the only issue I ever had was a sensor, pretty sure it was the EGT sensor I've heard about. It happened over 3 years ago so don't remember but the truck drove and ran fine when the light came on. I took it in for an oil change and they fixed the sensor. It was a very quick and easy fix whatever it was. Other than that one issue the truck was flawless, very quiet, and also got decent gas mileage. I did change the oil every time the sensor told me to or before and same with the fuel filters. I changed the air filter at least 2-3 times while I owned the truck.

I'm hoping the new F450 is as reliable. I pulled the toy hauler yesterday and while the dually feels more stable the biggest thing I noticed by far were that the brakes are night and day difference. I'm not familiar with how the F350 DRW trucks brakes are but the 450 brakes were very reassuring driving through Houston and I had the chance to test them more than once. Saying I hate Houston traffic is an understatement. The only negative thing I have to say about the F250 is that I was never impressed with the brakes. Maybe it was just me but they didn't feel like brakes should feel on a big truck. The F450 solves that issue for me, it stops very good.

I did buy the Ford ESP on both my 250 and the new 450. I also bought the maintenance plan on the 450 and had zero plans to buy it initially. I was told the brakes are around $800 on the 450 so financially it made more sense to me but normally I wouldn't consider it. I'm sure Ford comes out ahead but when I started adding up all the oil changes, fuel filters, brakes, coolant and transmission fluid changes, I was pretty happy with the price I got it for. Finance guy said they sell it for a dollar over their cost but I'm not sure I believe that story.
