Sailun S637 235/85/16

We got our new Sailun tires delivered yesterday, I knew they were supposed to be very good "robust" tires but these things are SERIOUS, SERIOUS tires. I weighed one of them and it tipped the scales at 62 lbs. The side walls are a good 1" thick and you can't buckle them by leaning or sitting on them. See pics of Marathons, then Sailuns.

Took the GY Marathons off this morning .... 2 at a time and had them changed over at Big O Tire in Cedar City, they didn't charge me a dime!!! but I gave the guys a $20 for lunch anyway. These Sailuns are about 3/4" taller than the Marathons but fit nicely in the wheel well area. Taking them out for a run next week. By the way, got all four delivered to the front door for $792 from Rusty's Tire in Perkiomville Pa. (800) 463-3339 ..... if you're interested.

Keystone fivers with 16" tires (LRE) - even those with optional rims - are listed on the certificatgion labels as size 16 x 6 (E or J). Like all other 235/85R16G tires the Sailun S637 has a minimum rim width requirement of 6.5". Here are some specs I found browsing around.

Yes I knew that going in as I also checked with Sailun mfg. and they said it is a recommended wheel width. I also checked with several other tire dealers and was told by all that 1/2" won't cause any problems. I merely posted this info so some other owners would have a second choice instead of spending $350 or more for GY G614's. If 1/2" spooks you then don't buy them, simple as that......

I’m not spooked. I just write about tires, wheels, rims etc… Here is more information on the subject of rim width.

Tire retailers and their maintenance personnel will sometimes take it upon themselves to make statements that are better made by those that are responsible for them. I’ve highlighted the key words in the following paragraph. The orange approval is from the tire manufacturer. The green shows those that are responsible for the final fitment.

Some vehicle manufacturers have developed Original Equipment applications in which the rim widths are not within the tire's original approved rim width range. While outside the normal recommended rim width ranges, these applications meet the specifications of the vehicle manufacturer.

But what is the speed rating of the Sailun S637? I have looked at links posted but still haven't seen a speed rating for them?

4 new Sailun's going on end of this week. Around $720 mounted, balanced and including tax. Like everyone else has said, these sure appear to be some impressive tires. Time will tell. Need to get some miles on these babies.

Just got rid of my Power King Tow Max tires on my 2011 Alpine 3200RL and installed 4 Brand new Sailuns.
What a difference in tires so much thicker and way heavier than the garbage I had on there before.
Here's to many worry free miles hopefully.

They are a substantially heavy built tire for sure. I was really impressed with them. I replaced mine this year with four Sailun's. I plan on swapping the spare next year also.

Just a word of caution to those who may be considering these "G" rated tires for their RV, make sure that your wheels are rated for 110PSI. These tires are excellent for heavier RV's, but many Keystone products are being shipped with 16" 6 lug wheels and they are only rated at 80 PSI. In fact, a lot of the 16" 8 lug aluminum wheels used by Keystone are only rated at 80 PSI.

They may not be a good option if your wheels aren't rated to carry the pressures required by these tires.

Not to change the subject but, because I noticed the red and yellow dots on the Marathon pictures in first post by the OP I thought I’d see if I could find anything about them in Goodyear’s on-line references. Unfortunately I didn’t.

The tire balancing technology using the red and yellow dots is already in use by many tire manufacturers. It hasn’t had wide ranging publicity. Bridgestone has a comprehensive on-line information package. I’ll post it below. A couple of years ago my wife got her first SUV. It has Bridgestone tires with the red and yellow dots. Being a nosy tire watcher I started researching the meaning of the dots.

I’m sure the procedure for using the dots will be standardized. The tire industry is very big on doing that. So, hopefully, what you read in the reference will be standard for all tires with the dot markings.

I never knew that . . . about the dots. Thanks for the post. Very informative.

That is a very interesting comment. Going to pickup our new Fuzion tomorrow and it has the G rated 637 Saliun's. I'll check the build sheet and see what type of wheels it comes with. I'm positive they are 8 lug but not sure how to tell which rims it has. They cut a lot of corner's on these things to make them more affordable and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that's one more thing.

I would hope that Keystone didn't cut corners on something like that, but like you say, it might be a good thing to double check. I'd suppose that your wheels will be rated for the maximum load of the tires, that would mean they are rated at 110 PSI (hopefully). You might be able to find out what's on your RV from the build sheet, then go to the wheel manufacturer's website and look up the specs on those wheels. That may save you the effort of taking one off the trailer to see the backside of the spokes.

Congratulations on your new Fuzion !!!!!

I'm sure your wheels are ok. I have a Fuzion 302 (same as 310) and it came with the cheap E load rated tires. Like many on here we learned that the E load rating is just to weak. While the E load rated tires only required 80psi it is true that the G rated tires require 110psi. The wheels on my RV are HiSpec Series 06 wheels, 8 lugs and rated for 110psi and 3,960lbs. So while they (Keystone) cheaped out on the tires they at least ponied up for the wheels. If you have HiSpec wheels you'll need to pull a wheel and look on the back to see what it is rated for.

See my post on this here --> http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=17135

Just brought the new unit home this afternoon, about 80 miles. Can't confirm the type of wheels yet but I can tell you they each had 105 psi. Man this thing pulled like a dream compared to the Montana. When I was looking at this unit pre purchase the "G" rated tires was a pretty big feature for me. I believe this is the only Fuzion coming stock with the "G" rated tires.

Thanks JRTJH for the heads up about the keystone psi requirement. Been looking for next 6 tires for my rig and low and behold, the DOT/Manufacture sticker on my rig tells me exactly what size tire and psi I should keep in them for travel.

637 Saliun's

Any updates from the several of you who either purchased your trailer with the 637 Saliun's already installed, or those of you who replaced your tires with the 637 Saliun's? Pictures and heft are one thing, but I would like to hear some more details of these 637 Saliun's...

Getting ready to purchase some new rubber and I like what I am hearing about these tires...

Thanks All...
