Replacing Electric Switch on water heater

Has anyone has any experience replacing the electric on/off switch on a Suburban SW12DE water heater? Mine seems to be "frozen" in the on position. I just replaced the hi-level thermostat sensor and then this happens. Thank you in advance

It may be the easy way out but as long as it is in the on position I would just use the circuit breaker to control it. Jm2˘, Hank
