I'm on summer vacation from teaching, so I've been entertaining myself:
Got a twelve pack of Smart Tiles from Home Depot. The 12 pack is like buy ten and get two free.


I needed a cutting board for trimming down the backsplash tiles, and by dumb luck, the one I picked up at Target fits in the sink.


After having conniption fits when my kids wobble the dining table, I had it welded. I've *never* folded it down for anything, but should I need to convert the dinette to a bed, I'll reinforce and make quick releases for the top.


I stumbled my way into an "RV Show" at the local horse track and saw this on many Rockwoods:


Is that table rail screwed into some internal support? I'd like to do the same.

Oh, and I installed a pleated shower door/curtain. I like a shower curtain at home, but in the tight confines of the trailer shower, it's a little clingy.


And I put some broom handle clips in the passthrough storage. Next trip will test if they'll hold or not.

Nice job on the backsplash! We may copy your mod and do away with the brown stripe behind and around our stove - for posting the pics.

I didn't remove the brown stripe. I just tiled right over it.

I was debating what to with that inside corner moulding. I left it because a) it's somewhat structural in joining the two walls together, and b) I'd have to leave the top part in anyhow and that'd be an abrupt and unfinished end showing on that moulding.

As it turns out, the right side is *exactly* three tiles wide. I trimmed the "fingers" off the left end and stuck them in the gaps in the right end. Be sure to go to the Smart Tiles website and watch their installation video(s).

Nice mods. I'm really interested in the outside table mount setup. That's going on my "To Do" list.

Very nice mods f6bits.
My previous trailer was a Rockwood, and the "rail" on my outside wall for the table/BBQ wasn't mounted to any structural studs, so it was always I little loose. If it would have been mounted right, it would have been an awesome accessory.

With the length of that rail they should have been able to catch at least two studs and I would think that would be enough. JM2¢, Hank

Can the aluminum studs be found using a standard stud finder like you'd use on drywall/wood stud walls?

Since I have one at home I guess I could try after work and see if it works.

IT would work if you have an aluminum magnet!! unless your lucky enough to find a stud with some steel in it. my best guess is you'll have do do it this way

The stud detector I have works off density, so in a stick house, having studs in the walls triggers a reading. Maybe it'll detect the aluminum studs amongst the insulation.

However, in cooler mornings, you can often see a condensation pattern that outlines the studs.
