Brake Box

Ok I lost brakes on trailer,tried using slide bar not stopping,only stopping power was on tow vehicle,changed out box,tried slide bar on box i just changed no brakes, but when I applied brakes from TV trailer brakes grabbed hold,could someone please tell me what the problem could be.

I am guessing you had brakes at one time with your brake controller? The brakes should work both ways auto and manual. I would be looking at the connection at the bumper and back to the trailer, only guessing but maybe a loose or cut wire.

Yes I did have brakes,I was three blocks from home when they went out.

Interesting. At the control unit. do you have power at the blue wire when you step on the brakes and when you slide the lever. remember when you step on the brakes you will not see 12 volts as you are not moving. but when you move the slider the voltage should go up the more you move it. if you do not get voltage when you move the slider you have a bad control unit. maybe time to switch brands good luck
