Talking Newby & Greenhorn here

New chapters - going shopping for toy hauler for the first time. We have our eyes set on 2021 Carbon 358. We've had truck campers before, but never a 5th wheel. Looking forward to new experiences.

Truck camper to toy hauler... I also did similar although I had bumper pulls in between. That is a BIG fifth wheel so best to have a one ton dually else you will very likely exceed the payload capability of your current truck. That is a great floor plan for a toy hauler. 13' garage that is walled off from the cabin is nice (keeps gas/oil stink out) and it has nice counter space in the kitchen. The toy hauler we had you could hardly find a place for a coffee pot and the missus couldn't reach anything in the overhead cupboards. I think you will like this toy hauler!

We have an 1 ton F350, air bags, diesel, goose neck ready anyway. We opted for the Carbon because its lighter than the Raptor - which we really liked, but it's heavier and we don't have dually. We're used to hauling ... 4 horse trailer, loaded and truck camper. But this will be new adventure. I've done my online research ad nauseum. Still, butterflies that we're making a wise choice.

I would have butterflies as well. That truck isn't enough....by quite a stretch. That is a 17k trailer going on a truck that has what, 3500 payload? A look at the yellow sticker inside the driver door will give you that number if you haven't looked already. That trailer is solidly in dually territory.

I agree with Danny and I also have an F350 and the payload is 4K lbs. but I think if you have the toy hauler loaded, you will need to be mindful of your payload. The sticker in your door frame looks like this (not mine; only an example):

F350, 6.7 diesel, 8ft bed crew cab. Air bags. The truck can handle it. We have no toys at present and are not planning to put a big toy in there. The primary purpose of the garage for US, is to have extra outdoor style living space and traveling with pets.
