Electric awning
Hi I have been seeing a lot of electric awnings with straps and dog screws holding them down I have always done it with a manual awning.is it a good idea to strap down a 20 ft. Electric one They seem a lot more flemzy than the old style manual awnings. With the automatic tilt option how you you even keep that side tight anyways?

Electric awning
I'm with you. I bring in my electric awning if it's going to get windy. Over Memorial day weekend I saw a class A with theirs tied down. We had rain. When it finally dumped it soaked everything and sounded like it broke. It didn't. I recently saw an Alpine's awning that was being rolled in, ripped out of the awning guide by the wind. If the guy had been 5 minutes faster it would never have happened.

Always bring mine in if we are leaving the trailer, at night before going to bed and in wind if it's enough to make it flap. This is Texas and a thunderstorm or high wind can get wound up in a New York minute..

I always tied our electric awning down.....I tilted the one side first and never had any problems. If really windy....it came in.

I always bring mine in if I go for a walk no matter how nice of a day it is. If there's a windy day all it takes is one good gust and it's a few camping spots over.
I've seen 3 go flying and one of them I was in having a beer with the owner. I told him to pull it in but guys and their beers always say that it'll be fine. About 5 mins after he said that a gust of wind caught it and it came crashing down. $900.00 later and he had a guy come install one the next day.

Seen way too many damaged awning, when I experience bad weather or expect it awnings are retracted, Sundown awnings comes in as well as when I leave the rig. Mere push of a button to have it extended or retracted. Rather be safe than SORRY

Recently I've seen people with their awnings only part way (a foot or two). I don't know if they are using it to keep rain away from the door or what. Any ideas on why they are doing this?

Sometimes I leave it out a foot or two. Keeps the doorway dry when raining. Its stable that close to the trailer.

If there are LED lights on the trailer, people will roll the awning out just enough to enjoy them.
