Furnace heat output

I have a 2012 cougar 30ft tt. When using the furnace the air output is modestly warm but doesn't seem nearly as hot as my previous 27ft tt. I'm concerned that the heat will be adequate in colder weather. Also, I do a fair amount of dry camping and it seems if the air were hotter, the furnace and circulation fan would run less time thus conserving the battery. On the other hand, the output may be normal. Also, is there an air filter on the furnace that needs to be serviced?
Thanks, Roger

Re: Furnace heat output

There aren't any air filters in RV furnaces. Heat output is directly proportional to length and diameter of duct work, condition of said ductwork and state of charge of the battery(s) if not plugged in.

The longer the duct, the greater the heat loss. I would first make sure your either plugged in or fully charged, then start the furnace. Go outside where the exhaust is and feel the exhaust. It should be hot enough that you can't hold your hand there. If not then you may have burner issues.

For testing air flow, we will cover outlets and then check the other outlets for increase in flow or warmth. Don't leave more than 1 outlet plugged at a time.

Re: Furnace heat output

I just had a similar problem with our rig, the heat from the floor vent wasn't as hot as normal, and the heater seemed to run forever. Outside, the normally very hot exhaust wasn't nearly as hot as usual. I ended up discovering a pigtail hose from the propane tank to the switching valve regulator had a stuck check valve that wouldn't release. I changed out the pigtail hose and the heater is back to normal.
