Long term parking on asphalt

I will be parking our TT on asphalt and considering using a 2x12 board on which to drive onto and place the tires. Will this size board distribute the weight evenly enough to eliminate problems during the summer with the asphalt? Or, should smaller boards be used, i.e., 2x4 plywood sheet under the tires?

Does the asphalt have a negative impact on the tires (especially during the summer months)?

As far as the tires go probably not but as far as the asphalt it may sink in and leave divots where the tires are.I would use a 2x12 and that should work just fine.

Most RV and Tire Manufacturers recommend using some form of blocking material.

Here is a very useful PDF file from the RMA. Blocking is described on the lase couple of pages in chapter 4.
