Well, I was going to stay out of this, but......
There seems to be a common misconception (maybe sometimes a deliberate attempt at misinformation) regarding the power stroke diesels produced after the 7.3L. The 6.0 and 6.4 motors were built by Navistar (International), the same company rhat produced the 7.3L. The 6.7L engine was designed from the ground up by Ford. I spent a great deal of time researching the testing and development of this engine. I liked what I read and, although I was concerned about buying a truck with a new, unproven power train, in 2011 I went ahead and purchased an F250. This truck has been amazing. We get 13 to 14 mpg towing our little Cougar and average 21 to 22 mpg empty on the highway. Plenty of power and torque. Those of you that insist on comparing this new motor to the older Navistar motors are simply wrong. Just sayin'

One thing for sure, where I live diesels are everywhere and Ford by far is the one I see on the road the most. Dodge is pretty common also and I hardly ever see a General Motors diesel. It seems every Dodge I see has been tuned and has the huge exhaust and always "rolling coal". I know Cummins is a great engine and it seems there are more and more on the road locally but still way behind Ford from what I see. There are 6.7 Fords everywhere! The yard crews drive the older F250's and are very common amongst that group as almost every yard crew has one. I will say Dodge has stepped it up and they make a great looking truck, interior looks much better to me than years past.

I guess I'm one of those "I fear change" people, and I actually can't blame Ford for the engine design change it's the stupid federal government requirements that made the 7.3L obsolete. So I guess I should open my eye's and try too see the good in the engine instead of the bad but ever since the 6.0L Ford has scrabbled too rebuild there reputation in the diesel engine market.

I am in the mood to order a new truck also.

I saw the new 2016 Ram Heavy Duty truck today at the Chicago auto show rollout and man it looks impressive.

Not sure about the RAM on the tailgate but I really like the rest of the look of the truck. Seems I might be living in the trailer mid 2016.

I don't blame Ford for not outsourcing to anyone. I was a little on the fence about the new 6.7 which is why I waited for them to work out any kinks in it. My 2014 DRW F350 Diesel pulls the well over 13,000 lb Alpine like its not even there. I must use the cruise control just to regulate how I drive because it wants to go faster.. Personally, I do not think you can go wrong with any of the big 3 when it comes to towing. It is all about personal preference. I just personally love the Ford interior setup and it seems like they designed and incorporated everything for a person wanting to tow. I have had Ford trucks since first moving to Iceland with the Navy back in 1990 and been fortunate. Only issue I have had with any of them was an AC Compressor going out.

Just make sure they don't build it on a Monday or Friday

Like they say nobody want's too work on Monday, and everyone is in a hurry on Friday for the weekend

Not to be throwing rocks , but have we forget the infamous 53 blocks , the dowel pin of death, the vp44,? they all have problems , the 6.9 IDI, 7.3 IDI, 7.3 DI ,6.0, 6.4 used in ford trucks were built by Navistar, the 6.7 is in-house built

Go to this Ford website and click on the tab at top that says Vehicle. Enter the VIN and see what it pulls up. If it is scheduled, it should give you a build date and what is going to be on the truck. If not scheduled, It will not show anything much.

Yes, I check those websites daily. ETIS is the only one that acknowledges my VIN, but not much info yet. It just has a generic value in the build date, so nothing official yet. Ford customer service will only say that final delivery will be between April 16 and 22. Sigh.
