Off To The Shop!

Finally decided to take our camper in while still in warranty. Got everything working right and slide decided to start giving me fits. Went out OK but will not pull back in. Ony one slide and its cable pull. Changed a relay and it cycled in and out at least 10 times. Got ready for a camping trip and it would not pull back in. Has the infamous In Command system with the backup system in the baggage area. Hope dealer can get it corrected. '22 Cougar 25RDS

I don’t have much exposure to the InCommand system, but I’m thinking a faulty relay in/on the BCM.

I bought 2 at O'Reilley's (one for spare) and changed it out. Cycled the slide about 10 times and it worked perfect. Before hooking up to go on a camping trip it failed to pull the slide in. Only one cable slide on this camper and it sounded like a motor may be bad. Son in law thinks it may be a dual polarity motor. Hope they get it fixed quickly. Only way it would pull in was on the backup system in the storage area. Would not work from the In Command touch screen.

Cable slide motor is like any other electric slide. 2 wires to the motor, polarity dictates direction it will turn. If it works with the override but not at the panel, I would say your issue is between the BCM and the panel.

Problem I brought it in for is fixed. Slide seal was leaking and have some water damage. Camper is only 9 months old and with one slide out I thought I'd have no problems with it. New improved slide seals may have been installed wrong.

Glad to hear your problem is now resolved.

Your comment made me laugh! Yes, new technology ... new and improved to solve all the world problems. But then ... "it's" installed incorrectly!

Not sure I consider the "new tech" much of an improvement. I can turn my lights on, adjust the thermostat, put my slide out just fine without all the electronic gadgetry. Complication makes fixes more complicated.

In Command and KeyTv found in the newer model campers have both given me problems so far.

Camper been in the shop for a month. Wrong parts sent so they have re-ordered them and have to pray they are correct when they come in. This is for the water leak from the bulb seal that let rain get into the camper. 2 camping trips canceled since its been in the shop. Not even a year old...and I thought a timeshare was bad!!

I'll take a rv, even with their problems, over a timeshare any day of the week & twice on Sunday.
Some rvs are money pits, some or most are relatively trouble free, but a time share is nothing but a big deep dark hole you throw money in to use occasionally, which probably cost more to use & you don't get a cigarette afterwards.

Wife and I still own a timeshare. Bought it at a good price since it was a repo and used it a lot since 1997 when we bought it. Maintainence fees went up out of sight and wife and I being older don't use it as much but it's been less per month than our '22 camper that's going on its second month in the shop.

Finally after a month and a half got to pick up our camper yesterday. Everything is working fine and service advisor even hooked it up for me and walked me through everything they did. They have the InCommand panel working right and have the one slide we have working fine. He showed me the defective area that water was leaking in from defective installation at the factory. I even had them install a slide topper to help keep the top of the slide clean. We did not buy our camper from this dealer but they seem to have made a vast improvement in their service dept. We had a Fuzion 371 bought from them 8 yrs ago and had terrible service back then. Can't wait to take it on a trip ASAP.

Looks like everything is working great after a 3 night stay in a nice little campground not too far from us. First trip in it since around Halloween last year. At least the close to 2 months in the shop didn't go wasted!

Nice to hear all is working great.. What was the fix to the BCM versus the slide that would not extend?

Since it would operate fine using the manual override switch on the BCM itself that tells me the wiring from the motor to controller to the BCM was fine.. as it all uses the same wiring whether operating from In Command or the BCM panel

Wondering if it was a firmware issue

Hope the camper remains behaving for the camping season! Getting warm in LA? I have the A/C cranking in the house and my shops.

All they told me it was a wiring issue between the BCM and the In Command pad. Of course the Tech had quit so I couldn't get a straight answer. Cougar has a sight for my model on Facebook and it seems to be a fairly common problem with the InCommand signal to the slide motor. They also fixed a leak from the bulb seal and sweep seal on the slide. Had to be faulty install at the factory and no one caught it. All fixed in warranty and working great so I'm satisfied.

It's been warm for the last 3 months! Only 74 since it rained all day and a cool front came through. Back in the mid 80's by Friday. Had the 2-AC's running in the camper and also in the house.
