San Joaquin county went on “lockdown” and it looks like Stanislaus county will tomorrow or Monday. Lots of places off limits once again.

Yup!! Got a haircut this morning because I don’t know when I’ll be able to get another. RV service is considered essential so I still have my job...for now.

I looks like the California governor has essentially cancelled Christmas for 2020. We are in Arizona right now doing our snowbird thing, had planned on leaving the rig here and just driving to California in a couple weeks to spend the holiday with family. With the restrictions that I read, it doesn't look like that is going to be possible. I also find it very strange that RV maintenance is an essential thing, but overnight stays at RV parks won't be allowed.

There are a lot of people that live in their RV, and as such if an appliance fails then it could be a health concern. Not all full timers stay in designated RV sites.

My nephew owns a large hot tub and pool retail business and is considered 'essential.' Go figure....

"RV parks and campgrounds can also be utilized for COVID-19 mitigation and containment measures. RV parks and campgrounds accepting homeless populations are also allowed."

Where does this "homeless population" stay when in a campground? How will this mitigate virus spread if full time campers are mixed with a homeless population. Strange stuff from the land of strange stuff.

There is a county owned park in Oakdale. They are required by law to allow an “indigent” person to stay in the park with an RV for 14 days free of charge.

Love it!

Jim, perhaps a hot tub is essential to physical therapy? Grasping here... When I first moved to Florida (1999) I noticed tanning booth shops along A1A. And I thought, "why would anyone tan in a booth when the free sun (and sand) is right there - a few hundred feet away?! But they sell the sessions.

We just returned from a 2 day quick trip to Santa Clarita to meet our son to return his dog we've been dog sitting & found that California is all but closed to traveler services.
No indoor dining anywhere even with a mask, all were drive thru only or take out. Even McDonald's doors were locked. Stopped for fuel, which BTW is more than double price per gallon than Arizona, with NO public restrooms available regardless that we just paid $50 for half a tank a couple times.
Also noticed the mile after mile of trash along the roadway on I-5, from furniture to tires & a truck load of water bottles, guess they can't afford a street sweeper or city employees to pick it up.
Hope I don't offend anyone here, but how can you folks afford to live there & why would you want to.

My niece just escaped from impoverished Santa Monica to fruitcake crazy Austin. You wouldn't believe the house trade...2.5 million in Santa Monica to 850,000 in Austin.
Oracle just announced they are leaving California for Texas.
Hewlett Packard HQ is leaving California for Houston.
C'mon, but leave them politics back there.
As the saying goes...Don't California my Texas.

I don't think Austin and Houston have been successful in having Cali politics left back in Cali. I don't understand, even with higher salaries and such, how folks can afford housing in much of Cali. From what I have seen of Cali big cities, they have gotten pretty rough and Austin for sure is going the same way. Sad.

Housing costs are through the roof, big city or rural doesn’t matter. We got lucky and bought in Oct 2000. I’ve watched my house value swing as much as $300,000.00. Our mortgage payment is about 1/2 what rent is on a 2 bedroom apt in this area.

We want to leave but grandkids and medical/dental insurance make it hard. I was a state employee for 25+ yrs and as long as I stay here my insurance rates are affordable.

What is implied in the article is that RV travel has been shut down in California. Not so! What has been shut down is California "State Campgrounds." I again just queried a dozen or more RV Parks in California and they are open for business for RV travelers.

I am currently RVing in California where travelers are coming and going on a regular basis.

Yep Austin, Houston, and Dallas have been run by lefties the last few years.

Well, once they start rolling out the new plague vaccine to the masses, perhaps the number of folks affected with drop enough so that life in our great country can get back to a more normal footing and we can stop talking about the plague and more about camping. I can't get on the politicos too hard as most of them don't have a clue what to do in this situation and I doubt I would know better. With folks dying and businesses dying they are kind of stuck in a no win situation. The answer is to get rid of the plague and the politicians! bwhahahahaha
