Can I plug the RV shore power cord into the inverter and run the entire coach off the battery?
I understand the converter needs to be turned off.

Yes and maybe. I just installed a small inverter recently and did exactly this. My TT is small and doesn't have all the fancy doodads (In Command, etc.) and I don't run high power items with it (microwave, AC) so this worked out well. I mainly run on solar, but there wasn't enough 12v outlets to charge the multiple items we needed to (phones, drones, computers, cameras). Instead of using the genny, I first turned off the converter, then I put a 30A to 15A adapter on the shore power cord and plugged it into the inverter. Voila! 110V throughout the trailer...almost! Seems that the 2 outlets on both sides of the bed are hooked up to the converter breaker. Oh well, it did what I wanted it to do.
